With a broad educational background, Dr. Cornish completed her undergraduate education with honors at Brown University and graduated with her medical degree (M.D.) from Brown University Medical School. She then completed her residency in family medicine at Georgetown University.In 2003, as a Howard Hughes Medical Fellow, Dr. Cornish conducted translational research at the National Human Genome Research Institute NIH. She was an apprentice in the laboratory of Francis Collins, M.D, Ph.D., the current Director of NIH and the Human Genome Project leader. Under his leadership, she analyzed genetic associations of chronic illnesses. Professionally, Dr. Cornish currently serves as a board member of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society. She is a proud member of the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) and the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM). An authority in her field, Dr. Cornish was nominated and awarded Northern Virginia’s Top Doctor award for family practice in 2021 and 2022.
