Dr. Cleopatra’s is a story of profound determination, from grappling with the heart-wrenching loss of her mother at birth, to emerging as a vanguard in fertility, pregnancy, and intergenerational health. With a formidable academic and professional trail, Dr. Cleopatra embodies passion, expertise, and an unyielding drive to make a difference. Her accolades—ranging from groundbreaking research, prestigious grants and scientific publications at some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, to esteemed collaborations like the Fulbright Specialists Roster and the health insurance giant Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield—all underscore her commitment to championing the cause of women and their families. Despite difficult beginnings, Dr. Cleopatra received her PhD at UCLA and postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan in the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Health & Society Scholars Program. In 2010, Dr. Cleopatra became the first woman of color in history on the tenure-track in the USC Davis School. She is now a retired tenured USC professor who has received nearly $3M in grant funding from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and others of the world’s most prestigious funding agencies and has been cited in over 2000 studies in the past 5 years alone.
