Brain
The brain is the central organ of the nervous system and plays a critical role in controlling and coordinating body functions, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. It consists of different regions responsible for various functions, such as the cerebral cortex for higher cognitive functions, the cerebellum for coordination and balance, and the brainstem for regulating essential processes like breathing and heart rate. The brain is composed of billions of neurons that communicate through electrical and chemical signals. It is protected by the skull and a protective layer called the meninges. Maintaining brain health is crucial for overall well-being. Factors such as regular physical and mental exercise, a balanced diet rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids, quality sleep, and avoiding harmful substances like tobacco and excessive alcohol can contribute to optimal brain function.
