Gosh, I can spend a weekend just talking about this right here. But I guess what I want to start with first is unfortunately or fortunately due to the existing market of more patients seeking more dentistry that is more holistic, and by holistic, I mean whole-body dentistry. Lot of, and of course they want to stay away from the concept of drill it, fill it, bill it. The fact that they’re constantly in and out of their dental dentist office spending thousands of dollars yearly and really not getting anywhere. So there’s a whole market that’s being developed right now. And you have what I call weekend warriors. Dentists who take a weekend course and they pay their yearly dues and then suddenly on Monday they’re a holistic or a biological or an alternative type dentistry.

Right, we see this in medicine also.

Correct, I mean, in a lot of different fields. I mean, I was sharing an office with a very a prestige so-called cosmetic dentist in Beverly Hills. And he advertises in all the different academies in biological dentistry, like IAOMT, IABDM, HDA. And when I asked them like, what is your… Well, I think biologically. For that, he advertises in all these academy’s website. So, it’s really interesting to see that. I can tell you from my behalf, I’ve always been a curious individual. I was starting really early that the more you learn, the more you see. And I knew really early in my career that this whole drill, it’s fill and bill type mentality is not going to work for me. So I took it upon myself to spend countless hours in continuing education, different master’s programs in order to raise my awareness and knowledge in order to help my patients more and more.

So when you say biological, when you see holistic, when you see alternative, that doesn’t really mean anything. What I always suggest to my patients is ask for the doctor’s Curriculum Vitae, their CV. For example, if you’re about to get surgery done with a dentist, if you’re about to get a filling done, a crown done, well, you want to ask that dentist, when was the last time you took a course that updated you in that modality? Because things change. I mean, I’m involved with a lot of different research programs and symposiums and lectures, and literally every two years, things are shifting. Especially I’m a beta tester for couple of different equipment in dentistry. And what I’m using now, the dentist will have in two to three years.

That’s really important to know that things are shifting so much every couple of years in dentistry. I don’t think people realize that so they could be using outdated methodology.

I was giving a lecture at a… It was a combination of IAOMT, IABDM, the videos actually on YouTube. And as I was talking, I just kind of slowed down and I asked the audience, which is about 300 so-called biological dentists. And I said, when was the last time any of you took a course in adhesive dentistry, restorative dentistry? Not even one person raised their hand. If I don’t, like me personally, if I don’t take my yearly course with my mentors in these protocols, I feel like I’m outdated. So it really, you want to look for a dentist that is continuously updating their knowledge and awareness in everything that they do.

For any dentists listening here, who interested in biological medicine, can they learn from you? Do you have any resources for them?

I have dentists that come to me, spend two, three days at my office to really get the feel of how I help my patients. On the other hand, I have dentists who invite me to their office. I grew up there for two, three days a week. And what they want is they want to sort of go through a rebirth because the way they’ve been practicing. But also I am working on certain, my website eventually, where I will have different lectures and protocols that I can share with everyone. But that’s up to come. There’s so much data that I don’t even know how to put it together eventually. But for right now, either dentists come to me or I go to them. For example, there’s a clinic in San Francisco. That’s how we ended up having dinner the other day, a few weeks ago is basically I went in there for a few days and I just basically shook things up. Anywhere from the way they greet the patients to their examinations, their treatment plans. They’re so programmed. All I really truly did was just help them to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Great. So tell us what systemic dentistry is.

Well, I actually have a trademark pending and a patent on this concept. Systemic dentistry really came to life when dental epigenetics, well, epigenetics came to light a few years ago for us. So we as these creatures are a, well, we thought that we were just basically flesh and blood. We know that we we’re a physical, energetic, mental, intuitive spiritual beings. So what systemic dentistry basically helps us to look at those five levels as it relates to dentistry.

So that’s where really was the birth of systemic dentistry. And I’m very honest with you. I’ve been at different symposiums and different lectures. And as soon as I’m referred to as, and all dentists that are there, you’re a regular, no-no. And there’s a lot of good dentists out there, don’t get me wrong. They’re not holistic biological, but they’re conscious. They’re conscious dentists. And I love them. And everything’s going well during our lecture or during my symposium. But as soon as they hear the word biological dentists, they take a step back. So I give you an example, a dear cousin of mine who’s also a dentist practices, Palo Alto, San Francisco area. And we were at a dinner meeting and she just basically said that, oh, so you couldn’t make it as a dentist, you went biological.

And I told her, well, it’s actually the other way around. I got sick of the old way, so I needed more. So systemic dentistry and also with the birth of epigenetics, I don’t get frowned upon anymore.

Right. Just for our audience who doesn’t know what a biological dentist is, can you define what that is? And then, I’d love for you to tell us the difference between a biologic dentist and systemic dentistry that you’ve created.

Alireza Panahpour, DDS

Well, biological dentistry is an aspect of systemic dentistry. Biological dentistry is when you want to, for example, a patient comes to you and they need to get a cleaning done, all right? So a biological dentist would take a little sample of that bacteria, put it under the microscope to see what the patient’s dealing with. Bacteria, parasites, spirocysts, et cetera, et cetera. So the teeth, the gums, the TMJ, they’re all manifestation of your health. So that’s where a biological dentist pays more attention to their patient. So you have a cavity, okay. We need to remove that cavity least invasive way.

We need to replace that lost structure with a good, clean material. But at the end of the day, what caused that decay? Is it your lack of brushing and flossing? Is it pH? Is it gut issues? Because we know tooth decay is truly due to lack of minerals. So if the body’s not getting the right minerals, if the body is not able to digest the right minerals, well, if the body’s too acidic for different reasons, we’ll, the body’s going to start absorbing minerals from your bone and from your teeth. So that will be the train of thought of a biological dentist to take a step back and get away from that drill it, fill it, bill it mentality and be much more aware of the treatment, the protocols, the materials that are used in their practice.

And then it sounds like in systemic dentistry, you’re approaching the entire person beyond. Tell us more about that.

Alireza Panahpour, DDS

Again, when I was studying with doctor, the dear mentor of mine, Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, he had put together what he called, “The Five Levels of Healing.” Okay, again, physical energy, mental, into the spiritual. And of course, we knew about epigenetics. Gurus talked about it, philosophers talked about it, but it wasn’t accepted. But then when the research came, I’m not going to accept it, I jumped on the ball and I have actually a very, and it’s one of one of my lectures on dental epigenetics the next frontier. Is when I focus on each aspect up to a five levels as it relates to your total health, specifically the cranium and the rest of the body. So in my world, tooth decay, gum disease, craniosacral issues, postural issues, TMJ which always goes back to the bites, infected root canals. And between me and you, all root canals are infected one way or another. Old extraction sites that were not, either didn’t heal properly or were not done properly. What all these have in common is they’re all chronic issue.

They’re all chronic inflammation. And we know that chronic issues put a huge burden on our immune system. As me and you are having this discussion, our immune system is dealing with what over 6,000 different types of cancer cells. That’s been proven. So the last thing that I want is to constantly have this clenching and grinding that’s going on, that has its own ripple effect on the system, or this infected site in my jaw, who’s harboring all these buggers. And when I’m talking about buggers, I mean, in dental school, 1990, we were taught that there’s 350 different types of bacteria in our mouth always. Some good, mostly bad. Until years later, the research says that, there’s actually over 2000 different types of bacteria, virus, fungus. And now we’re finding parasites that live in these colonies. We just want to call it biofilm. Biofilm is what causes tooth decay. Biofilm is what causes gum disease. Biofilm colonies is what we find in these infection sites.

All over the body. And you know, so that’s where really systemic dentistry comes into play that I want to help my patients above and beyond. See when I’m done with the patient, I want to be done with the patient. If my patient keeps coming back to me with broken fillings, broken crowns, what have you, more cavities, more problems, then I really haven’t done my job. 90% of my patients, and I’m very proud to say and blessed, 90% of my patients fly in to see me and fly back.

Yeah, so a lot of my patients have mycotoxin illness. They have complex chronic illness, Lyme disease, tick borne illness, high parasite loads, high viral loads, and high load of environmental toxicants in their whole system. There are some patients who no matter what treatment modalities we give, whether it’s environmental detoxification, mass cell support, treatment of tick-borne illness, they don’t get better until we send them to you, until we fix the dental issues-

chronic issue. How can you get your patient well? Detox from everything you just talked about when they have an active infection in their jaw as an example that is harboring all these buggers. And we know that all living creatures poop. Is a toxin on different levels. So how can you get your… So how can you get your patient well, when they’re dealing with these certain infections? And I get patients at least five, six out of 10 patients that come to me, listen, we spent hundreds of thousands of dollars for the past so many years, we got a little better, but we usually got worse. And now we found out that my dental issue is what’s been keeping me from getting better.

So a lot of the lectures that I do is to inform chiropractors, natural paths, functional medical doctors, regular MDs, into raise their awareness on the important of dental health.

This is a really, really important piece because a lot of times, patients, when I tell them this, it’s hard to digest that results. It’s hard to understand. Well, I mean, just a little part of my body. it’s not… Why should it have such an impact on the rest of my system? And I tell them, well, think of how close it is to the brain. Infections, mycotoxins they can cross the blood brain barrier. So yeah, tell us more.

I get the same question as from different health practitioners. We know that in medical school, medical doctors are not taught anything about dentistry, maybe just the numbering and you have your teeth, the teeth are in the jaw, et cetera, et cetera, that’s it.

There is no dentition program. You know, so they just haven’t been taught.

You know. So I try to raise their awareness on the importance, through science, not through, lighting a candle in my office and calling my opposite holistic dental practice. It’s showing them, look at the pathology, the imaging, look at what the radiologist said, look what the culture found. Look at the after effects. So through these, I’m hoping and praying that I have been able to raise their awareness to help their patients. Of course, when these doctors always go back to their hometown, within days, I’m getting patients flying. And they always send me the most difficult patients, patients they’re stuck with.

And when they come to me, one of the first things we do, we take a 3D scan to be able to see things in a whole three-dimensional way. And I’m finding issues above and beyond. “When was your last cleaning?” “Two years ago.” I’ve been so focused on my medical health having beginning like cleaning’s done. “What’s going on with this tooth, “this pus coming out of it?” “Oh yeah, once a year, a pus comes out of it, “then I take some antibiotics then it subsides.” I’m clenching, grinding the bejesus out of my teeth. So they’re trying to go through all this clinician detoxification but all this other stuff is going on and no one’s paying attention to them.

So the insult in the jaw, it’s so close to the brain and so close to the lungs, those insults keep going on while the doctor’s trying to treat.

Okay, so this is just a simple picture of our cranium. You have the fifth cranial nerve that comes from the brainstem. This is your upper teeth, lower teeth, your eyes, your sinuses. Right behind your sinuses is what’s called the sphenopalatine ganglion. So this is the major server that gives intervention to the forehead, to the eyes, to the sinuses, gums, upper teeth, lower teeth, you name it. There’s the vagus nerve that goes to the gut. So the same nerves that help all of this, anywhere from my teeth to our eyes, all of it, come from the same server. There’s another picture of it.

They also call this sphenopalatine ganglion, Gasserian ganglion. And you can see how it comes here. And then from here goes to Autonomic division, the upper jaw. And look, there’s another server here. There’s another server here. So within this structure, you have 1, 2, 3, 4 other little servers. Now, if you look at this chart, I’m sure you’ve all seen this. If you’ve been to any doctor, they always have this chart with them. You look at the sympathetic body and parasympathetic body. So we know that all organs have a sympathetic intervention into the spine and back and forth. So if the organs is out, the spine is out.

If the spine is out, the organ is out. That’s basic chiropractic. But look at the parasympathetic. And what is our I mean, the sympathetic remember is fight and flight, correct? Parasympathetic is your healing, is your detoxification. And look how many servers you have in the parasympathetic. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. So this seven parasympathetic servers are controlling your healing, your detox, your wellness, but look up here, the top four right here, are right over here. So four of your major parasympathetic servers, ganglions are within this area. So if you have, for example heavy metals, if you have infections in the jaw, on a dental neural level, you’re causing toxicity, short circuit of your parasympathetic body. That’s like basically the basics of it.

Sure, now, there’s an ongoing research right now. It’s called “The Nun Study.” You can look it up. It’s basically a convent, all sisters. They’re right across the street from the medical school and the dental school. I think it’s in Baltimore. I’m not a hundred percent sure. As the number one cause of death for these nuns, number one was dementia. Number two was like breast cancer and then ovarian cancer. So as the nuns passed away, they gave their body to science. And what they found really interesting was that every nun who died of dementia, there was a specific part of the brain that was diseased. Well, let’s say dementia was here. Breast cancer was here. Ovarian cancer, was specific areas correlating to that illness.

Now, when they did biopsies of these area, the top three things they found was mercury, biofilm, aluminum. The question was, how did it get there? There is no blood flow to those sections of the brain. The conclusion was axonal transport, which means that these parasites, viruses, bacterias are able to literally use our nervous system as freeway to get to different parts of the body. And of course the conclusion of that was, the areas that would disease that biofilm, that heavy metal, was derived through the oral cavity. And this is an ongoing research and is really, really interesting.

Very groundbreaking. So really in my world, the autonomic nervous system, you’re a physical structure within the energy body. And again, it goes back to those five levels, physical energy, mental, intuitive, spiritual.

I love that you approached dentistry that way, is the way I approach holistic medicine. So it is.

I can never do, ’cause I’m want to go close this up. I can never do what I do without the aid of amazing practitioners such as you. And I’m going to be kind of very straightforward with that. Now, well, especially when it comes to our surgical protocols. Well, first thing, with the dental board, they’re watching me like a hawk. For example, if I ask my patients, what is your diets? Do you poop every day? Do you have any scars on your body? What is your diet like? What is your blood type? The board is telling me that I act as a medical doctor instead of a dentist.

Okay. So I don’t carry any supplements in my practice, I’m just so, so. I just don’t want any questions. So I work with natural paths, functional medical doctors religiously. So let’s say if I have a patient that comes in that has a infected root canal, at the same time, they’re dealing with all these other autoimmune issues. Well, first thing, I need to make sure that that patient is ready for surgery through CBC, through complete blood count, other tests to make sure they have everything they need as far as blood clotting factors, vitamin D, et cetera. And don’t get me started on vitamin D, that’s means one of the new developments in dentistry, in dental health. We can talk about that later. So I got to make sure that they’re ready to go through surgery. Their body is strong enough because what am I doing really during surgery? As I’m removing this infection, I’m spreading the infection further into the site.

Because areas of like root canal or what they call cavitations, there’s no blood flow to these areas. And as soon as we start chirotouching, bleeding happens and that biofilm, those buggers can start spreading. So of course, I can put my patient on what, three to five different types of antibiotics, but I don’t want that. None of my patients want antibiotics. Because they’ve only taken so much of it that destroys their gut, they will never go back to it again, especially as you know a lot of our live patients that have been on antibiotics for two, three years. And again, that’s a whole another lecture. So now, so my natural path tells me we’re good, we’re ready. It’ll take my natural paths usually anywhere from two weeks to couple of months, even to get the patient ready.

So now patients there for surgery. I go in, I remove the infection spreading that infection. So again, now that patient needs to be working with that natural path into what we call immune modulation, boost up their immune system. Again, diet supplementation. I mean, how can you get well, when you’re living next to a WiFi tower, that’s on the energetic level? How can you get well when you have no support of what’s going on in your life from your family? We see that and that’s on the mental level. We see that even over again. So now the most interesting part is that, as soon as we remove one of these issues, the part is like, great, thank you so much. I don’t have to deal with this anymore. What am I going to do next? That’s where your role takes precedence because their body either wants something or it wants to dump something.

Right. Well, often see a new issue bubbling up to the surface.

Correct, and most of the times with patients that have been dealing with heavy metals, heavy metals starts stumping. Of course, we don’t want any culation, we want binders. If not, the heavy metal gets into the blood, goes to my surgical area and the surgical area fails.

Okay. So I could never do what I do without the support of my medical community. It’s not, and unfortunately I see. Okay, well, let me take a step back. 50% of the cases that I’m doing right now, are re-dos.

And when I sit down, and I go through what happened with the previous biological dentist, it was like getting a filling done. They went to the office, they give him some vitamin C like nothing. It’s like basically getting a filling done. No wonder it failed.

There was nothing else systemic done.

Correct. Now I was at a lecture a few months ago, supposedly the one that, there was a lecture from one of these top biological dentist who does a lot of cavitation surgery. She’s kind of known, I guess. I sat there for three hours and I listened to her lecture. And I didn’t want to be rude, so I just wrote down my questions. By the end of that three, Well, it wasn’t, more question was more questions and comments, more comments than questions. I had about six pages of notes that I really wanted At the end of the lecture when she said, any questions, I wasn’t going embarrass her, but I wanted to raise awareness.

So I said, “Dr. So-and-so, my first question is, “when was the last time you took a surgical course?” She said, “Dental school.” And she’s in her, I would say late fifties, early sixties. That was it for me. I didn’t have any questions after that. Because you can never even comprehend what I’m about to ask you next if the last surgical course you took was back in dental school. I’m sorry, it just doesn’t work. So we see it, I see a lot of re-dos a lot of patients, not once, sometimes even two, three times. So that’s why I take these issues very seriously when it comes to these surgical protocols. Again, I can never do my work without the assistance of my natural paths, my functional medical doctors, MD’s.

Exactly. Especially when we have a freeway of nerves throughout our entire system, from our brain to our jaw and then throughout the whole system. And that is how the biotoxins, the biofilms, the bugs themselves spread and people don’t understand that. And so it’s just been really great that you brought this piece up and it ties in the whole why. Why is my dental health this important? Can you tell us more about what you do, more about your procedures?

Well, every patient’s different. To be honest with you, every patient is different. I spend probably more time in my imaging, diagnostics speaking to other doctors, writing notes and actually practicing. Every patient’s really different, to be honest with you. For example, right now I have a few patients of mine that are in need of expansion of their upper jaw. Right before I got started, I got introduced to a dentist that’s doing some really beautiful work that I hadn’t heard of before. So I had to put these patients on a pause, give me a few weeks, let me research what this other dentist is doing because I want to be able to give you the most updated information. So it really goes down to that. Like today right now, I’m actually sitting at the office that my chiropractor’s. Today is where I have my patients on certain appliances, will help harmonize and control their cranium, as they see our special chiropractors, what I call short to a specialist, sacral occipital technique. As our chiropractor brings their body more in harmony, I’m there to adjust the appliance of that really, is what we call kind of chirodontics.

Thank God for the internet, thank God that we’re able to really do our research. So I would say just because someone says, I’m a so-and-so type of a dentist and they advertise under it and you know, just don’t fall into that. Make sure you do your homework, make sure you get their CV, make sure this individuals are truly updating themselves with their protocols. And especially when it comes to me, any monkey can remove a mercury filling. So, yes, you put the rubber done, you put the oxygen, you have the vacuum, all of that, that doesn’t suggest because you do that, you call yourself a biological dentist, no. You got to do that anyway. So is the before and after effect that really helping your patient go through that transformation? And of course in my lectures, I talk about that. I talk about what they need to be aware of, what’s happening with the body. So these dentists, these doctors can help their patients. So basically do your research. Just because there’s a nice website, that doesn’t mean anything.
