Welcome back, everybody, to the Bioenergetics Summit. I am your host, Dr. Greg Eckel. I have Professor Hemal on board today. We're talking about groundbreaking bioenergetic research at the University of California and other institutions. Dr. Patel is Professor and Vice Chair for research at the Department of Anesthesiology at UCSD. He's Research Career Scientist and Research Pharmacologist at the VA San Diego healthcare system. Dr. Hemal Patel is a Tenured Professor and Vice-Chair for Research in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of California, San Diego and has a dual appointment as a VA Research Career Scientist and VA Research Pharmacologist at the VA San Diego Healthcare System. He is also the Chief Scientific Officer for Versea Discovery. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Pharmacology and Toxicology and did postdoctoral work at UCSD in the Department of Pharmacology under Paul Insel (2002-2005). He has made seminal contributions in shaping new investigation areas on defining the impact of membrane structure on cell, organ, and organismal physiology and metabolism with implications for cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury, heart failure, diabetic cardiomyopathy, aging, pulmonary hypertension, cancer, and neurodegeneration. His focus on energetics in cell biology touches upon all of these and is a control point for managing and empowering human health resilience. Hemal Patel, PhD

Gregory Eckel has spent the last 20 years developing and refining his unique approach to chronic neurological conditions. In addition to his experience in clinical practice using a combination of Naturopathic and Chinese Medicine, he has a deep personal connection with chronic neurological disease since his wife Sarieah passed of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), a condition with no known cure. As she was the love of his life, he took a deep dive into research and uncovered regenerative medicine and the development of a brain regenerative program. In loving memory of his wife, he has continued to help others with neurodegenerative diseases improve their quality of life and find natural solutions.
