<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Dr. Jess got her start in the conventional medical system. She completed residency training in internal medicine at Northwestern. For years she worked in the hospital, focusing on oncology patients. Eventually she trained in palliative and hospice medicine. She found great meaning in her work. However, around 2016, she realized that her medical career needed to have another phase. She did a lot of soul searching, book reading and podcast listening. When she discovered functional medicine, she realized she had found her next calling. Dr. Jess pursued training with the Institute of Functional Medicine and Chris Kresser&#8217;s ADAPT training program. She obtained certification in both approaches. She also completed Dr. Dale Bredesen&#8217;s training program to Reverse Cognitive Decline (RECODE) and foundational training with the Society of Cannabis Clinicians. While working for the California Center of Functional Medicine, she developed an interest in patients with Lyme disease and related conditions, including MCAS and mold. She joined Dr. Tom&#8217;s Lyme Disease Practitioner Certification program in 2021. She is excited to be joining the team at Origins of Health.</span></p>
