Kavitha Chinnaiyan, MD, FACC, MSCCT is a cardiologist and Professor of Medicine at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Royal Oak, MI, where she serves as the Director of Cardiac Imaging Research. Her clinical interests include preventive cardiology, cardiovascular disease in women and appropriate use of cardiac imaging.

She focuses her research endeavors on the clinical applications of cardiac CT, adoption of novel CT technology, radiation dose reduction and outcomes related to imaging. As Program Director, she led the Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Consortium (ACIC), a statewide collaborative quality initiative sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan that included 90 institutions in Michigan. The ACIC established the role of registries for real-world practice of cardiac CT, including dose reduction and appropriate use. She has authored and co-authored more than a hundred manuscripts and abstracts, and several book chapters. She serves on numerous committees of national, international and statewide organizations in the field of cardiology and cardiac imaging, and is on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Society of Cardiovascular CT.

She has studied Tantra, Advaita Vedanta, Yoga and Āyurveda with teachers across the globe. Her workshops, courses and writings strive to bring these time-honored traditions to modern living in practical ways.

She is the author of Shakti Rising (Nonduality Press, 2017), which won the Nautilus Gold Award for Best Books of 2017, The Heart of Wellness (Sfaim Press, 2020), Glorious Alchemy: Living the Lalitā Sahasranāma (New Sarum Press, UK, 2020), and Fractals of Reality: Living the Śrīcakra (Sfaim Press, 2022).
