So what is your answer to that question, colostrum versus immunolin? So colosrum can be an absolutely great tool in your gut health toolbox, but it's molecularly inferior to a serum-based IgG like immunalin, which is what you have in you IgD product.

Here's the way that I look at it. If you were, let's say JD, right, is at bat in the home run derby, if he was using colosterum, it'd be like trying to win the Home Run Derby with a tennis racket.

It's just not the right tool, right? You want a Louisville slugger, and that's what you're going to get with an immunoline product and say, okay, those are just words, Brian.

What does that mean? Well, first off, with colostrum, 30% of the population cannot take dairy, so they're off the plate already. With a serum-based IgG, you don't have to worry about that.

Thank you, Jamie, I'm really excited for our next guest today. I love when we get the opportunity to talk about quality, the ingredients that are so important that go into making all of our formulations.

They've certainly made a difference in my life and the lives of many. So I am really exited about our guest. Yeah, one of the big three differentiators when people say what's different between Nutritional Frontiers and all the other companies out there, well one is our people.

Let's give a nice warm welcome to Brian Kaufman. How are we doing, Brian? Hey, how's it going, guys? Thank you guys so much for the opportunity to Come on and share a little bit more about the kind of the missing piece to the gut health puzzle.

And it's a very dense, hardy immunoglobulin called, then we call it immunoline. Jamie and I met a couple of years ago, right after we were getting ready to win ingredient of the year.

And I saw so many synergies between our company and what you've got going there at Nutritional Frontiers. You're a family-owned business. We're third generation family owned as well.

The number one thing for us is quality and science. Everyone has a huge robust marketing team and they like to pontificate all these crazy words that try to make you feel something.

But at the end of the day, does the science match the effect? And I just, I saw that with us both and I knew we were going to be great partners, my friend.

I was blown away, Christine, the PowerPoint they provided with, you know, over 45 published research studies. It's a prescription at five grams or higher.

And some of the complicated cases, and I love how they broke it down, that it's not only specific for these certain foreign invaders, but then the other parts of study are on symptoms, improvement, everything from bloating, gas, diarrhea and constipation.

I'm actually a personal user of the IGG, absolutely love it. I take the flavored powder, we call it IGD, with the first company in the world to come out of flavored powders.

So thanks to Christine and the team. And I pop it right in our GI complete. Now I tell you what, when I use that formulation, I can actually tell. You know, one of my clients gave you guys the best compliment ever.

You know some people don't, get into some of the description of what's going on, but we'll talk more about the research. He says his patients know in two to three days.

So Brian, why don't you share, because we have people, not only healthcare professionals who listen to her episodes, But also just people who are interested in health and wellness.

Why don' you just share with them what is immunoline, what does it do in the body, and why would our IgG be so magical? Great question. So this started for me as a nurse, right?

I don't have a cool business degree and background and things like that. I'm a healthcare provider. And more than that, I am a microbiome nerd. Just absolutely infatuated with the human body and total human optimization.

A microbiomes nerd, all right. Absolutely. New title. And, uh, you know, in bedside care, there's always a common denominator with everything and it's usually GI symptoms.

And for many, many years, I felt like I was just kind of managing symptoms, right? But I wasn't really going to that root cause of the problem. And lo and behold, we were starting to try out this experimental immunoglobulin.

And the more I got to understand about how antibodies in the immune system worked, antibodies or immunoglobulins really are your personal security system.

Right. And what they do is when they come in contact with foreign invaders, things like inflammatory bacteria, fungi, mold, C. diff, LPS, like you were just talking about, Jamie, it specifically targets and binds them and removes them.

And I was on a big probiotic kick right then at that time in my life. And also, okay, well, we're adding all these good guys and it's not really helping that much.

What if we added this thing that's going to remove the bad guys? And, I kind of had an aha moment and I started reaching out to the companies like, how can I get more involved in this?

Why don't more people know about this. We can change the diversity of the microbiome by simply getting rid of The bad guys, which are the underlying cause of.

The problem, Jamie, let me ask you a question. It's going to sound silly. If you had a rock in your shoe, how much percocet would you take to make the pain go away?

Oh, I don't know. That's a tough question. Yeah, you wouldn't. You wouldn' take Percocet. I wouldn''t take it. Good answer. Thank you. Take your shoe off and you would remove the rock.

Right. And so modern medicine is just hyper focused on these symptoms when what we really need to be doing is removing that underlying cause that inflammatory bacteria, fungi, mold and a concentrated antibody like amygdalin, which you have in your flavored IgG product, is the missing piece to that gut health puzzle.

Wow. Yeah, it's interesting you say that because we always say, Christine, you know, don't run for the cure, run the cause, right? And, um, the old nature path will say health and death begins in the colon and the gut.

And that's always been our philosophy at Nutritional Frontiers. That's our number one category is our GI solutions. Even when we use things like Candikill and GI Complete, when you add in IGG, you take the results to a whole new level.

Absolutely. And I think that's been the coolest thing. Christine, he's glossing over these terms like mycotoxin, C. diff, H. pylori, candida. These are very stubborn foreign invaders.

I love what he said about this being your personal security system, right? I always say IGG is like the bouncer at the club, it will identify, bind to, neutralize and remove that offending person.

And that's why it's more like a sniper, but it works so well. I'll give you a personal story. My daughter was actually in a car accident and had to have reconstruction surgery in her hand.

And it turned out over time from all the antibiotics, she had a lot of GI, foreign invaders, very stubborn. So one of our clients here, Dr. Val Donaldson, put her on the protocol, including IgG.

And we just saw her recently. The results that she got have been fantastic. It saved her life and completely changed her, too, because she didn't realize all those things were really binding in there and creating weight gain and bloating and all the immune conditions and GI issues, all these different things.

It's been a godsend for her and without that, she wouldn't have got the results. I personally thank you and your team for that. My pleasure. I'm glad I love hearing great stories like that.

And whatever the instance in this case, it was an accident or something like. If anyone is on broad spectrum antibiotics, the first thing I tell, whether it's a PCP and nutritionist, a gastroenterologist, internal medicine doctor, start them on IGG because here's the antibiotics are an amazing tool, right?

Just revolutionized healthcare in so many ways. but it works almost too good, right? It kills the bad guys, but also kills all the good guys. And in that like kind of purgatory phase when you've killed the guys and the Good Guys, you're still coming in contact with foreign invaders on a daily basis and you are just left vulnerable.

You've got no security team at this point. That's where IgG comes in and can help bind and remove those inflammatory bacteria and fungi so that the gut lining can actually turn over and heal.

A more stable gut barrier is going to absorb more water, more protein, and more nutrients. And so not only are you not going have the gut problems that you have when you go through an antibiotic, you're actually going heal faster because you absorb all of the things that your putting into your body.

Total human optimization. Well that's great. So using IgG and then maybe adding some probiotics. Right. And then the formulation that you guys have, I think it's the GI complete with the slippery Elm and the marshmallow and like the glutamine and That is so important because when the IGG is binding on all of the bad guys, right?

You still got a damaged gut barrier that looks like this. And when you start adding in those other compounds, they're going to nourish that damaged cut layer.

You're gonna watch it go from here, slowly contract until you get a nice tight gut. Well, it's really interesting. I know, Jamie, you talked about where most of our functional medicine doctors start is in the gut, right?

And how important that is and how it is one of the major categories that we treat. Well, we've got, you know, Hippocrates telling us 2,000 years ago, health begins and ends in the gut.

So this isn't news, right? But I, coming into functional medicine, I had no idea that we had anything in our gut, like no good bugs, bad bugs. None of it.

I have zero idea. And I'm like, what do you mean there's good books in there? We have good box? That sounds gross, right? There are good bugs and bad bugs to begin with.

But when I started to really look into the underlying energetic root cause of gut issues, just I'm going to go a little spiritual, little energetic on us for a minute.

let's go okay ready all right so our third chakra which is like the third energy center is our gut okay that's our our solar plexus and if you think about it when you do something that makes you really nervous right you get butterflies in your stomach or You get bad news, you feel like you get a punch in the gut.

It's like our first response system and that's where we, how we feel about ourselves, How we show up in a world, the self-esteem. And so, The idea of self really starts in The Gut and then any impact to the Self hits us in THE Gut.

And so when you think about, you know, what the gut does, right, the stomach, it holds food and stores food. It also holds emotions or stores emotions, or processes them or doesn't.

And, so what happens is the energy pools there, and then it goes to the weakest part in the body. and that's when things start to fall apart. So it is like the central spot.

And if you think about it, all of life is about relationships, right? The relationship with yourself and the relationship others. No wonder it always feels like a punch in the gut.

I use GI Complete on a regular basis, and when I feel like I need a little extra help, I'm always putting the IGG in there. and I love that it's a flavored powder.

However, That's why we use the PRTs and the immunolin, just like quite a few other ones we have. comes with a huge amount of research. So maybe you can dive in a little more for our healthcare professionals out there to let them know that, hey, this is so good.

It's actually a prescription at a higher dose. Absolutely. Immunoline has over 45 human clinical trials, over a hundred published manuscripts total between randomized placebo controlled trials.

various clinic releases, safety studies, animal studies bench top binding studies. Anything that you would want. And really, I think we're still scratching the surface on what this product can do.

I get emails all the time. Hey, will it bind to this? I go, you know what? We haven't tried that. and then I forward that to RD and go. hey, can we get something on benchtop going in a couple of weeks to see if we can bind?

aflatoxin A, right? A really prevalent mold particle that causes a lot of problem for people. Boom, we turned it around. Wow. So as you mentioned, Mold is a big deal in Florida, in particular, where I am.

Absolutely. Yeah, it's huge. And so many people get sick from it, have to redo their homes from, because it is so damp a lot of the time here. Right? And then, God forbid, we have a hurricane or something.

But it really huge down here, the mold toxicity. So you have studies now showing IgG can help with that as well. Absolutely. So we have new binding data that's come out in the last probably six months where we really, really focused on candida, aflatoxin A and B, and a couple of cyto-lethal distending toxin.

If anyone is listening to that right now I'm going, I don't know what that is, but those are various mold and mycotitis, which are prevalent. And like you mentioned in Florida, Houston is a hotbed for mold toxification where we see a lot of patients and practitioners utilize IgG products like Nutritional Frontiers product.

So let's back up though. So this product originally launched as a five gram prescription medical food product. And in the toughest to treat patients, we were so confident and we're like, you know what?

If I can fix your grandma who's had Crohn's for the last 40 years, I could probably fix a mild to moderate IBS patient or just someone that has a little traveler's diarrhea or something like that.

So we launched the product in a five gram clinical efficacious dose. And we focused on essentially. you know, two areas. So, interval bowel syndrome and then inflammatory bowel disease, which is Crohn's and ulcerative colitis.

And then kind of towards the end, before I took it into the dietary supplement world, SIBO, Which has always been an issue for my patient population, right?

And so 45 human clinical trials, one in particular I want to talk to you about is a kind our flagship trial. What we did is we took patients that had kind of chief digestive systems that you've seen with IBS, loose stools, abdominal discomfort, bloating, flatulence, you know, things like that.

And we didn't set it up to reduce their symptoms like one time. We were like, let's do this long-term and see how many days we can reduce all of these symptoms.

By the end of the eight-week study, We had reduced each one of those diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, urgency, bloating, flatulence by 30 to 40% in eight weeks.

Wow. Fantastic. And that was just really the beginning for a lot of these patients. So think about this. If you're listening right now and you have any of the symptoms that I was talking about, you've likely had them for long time.

if you can get three to four months of your life back today, would you do it? Oh my goodness. Who would darn right? Who wouldn't? You're darn, right. She would because so many of my patients couldn't go to honors day or basketball games or friends giving or name a family, you know, retreat or something like that.

I'm, I I live in Iowa now where the company is, but every Sunday is barbecue day. And I can't imagine the lack of core memories I would have without those Sunday barbecue days, because I was worried about where a bathroom was.

Well I can tell you, I mean I know IBS in particular I think has really kind of run its course, pardon the expression, but people really struggle with that.

And it's not only just a, you know, grown-ups, it is affecting kids. I means you mentioned that, so why do you think we've seen like such a rise of those type of conditions?

Great question. That's definitely multifaceted, right? Number one, and I'm going to lean on JD a little bit because I am sure he said this to his family and his kids is that y'all's immune system isn't what ours was because you're not outside, you are not drinking from the water hose.

We're You're not exposing yourselves to all of the bacterial antigens or bacteria that we used to have. Because when you come in contact with some type of a bacteria, your immune system creates a immunologic response that this is, okay, we're going to develop antibodies or immunoglobulins to fight this the next time we come in contact with it.

So if we are not developing that acquired immune system like we once did, then your immune systems is not going be as well. Then you add in our water and our food.

I live in Iowa. We're not known for having the best water supply. Ill leave that there. But then you start thinking about the Western diet and all of the manufactured foods and processed foods that we, I mean, Jamie, tell me the truth.

Did you know anyone with a peanut allergy when you were growing up? Me? There was no allergies. Yeah. No, no peanut. We didn't even know what gluten was.

And there was very little processed food. It was just starting in the 70s and 80s. But back then, too, something I really have realized recently is, you know, we didn't go out to restaurants and there very was little fast food, even if you went to a pizza place, it was homemade local, but most of the meals were eaten in a house, right?

You would even take food with you when you traveled. So I think part of it is that people don't get the real food content that they would get. And allergies, gosh, there's so many allergens now.

We went to a restaurant the other night, that's the first thing they asked. Right. And at our table, there was like three allergies. There was shellfish for me and two people with gluten, one with dairy.

So it's like, yeah, I got a nasty little, little email from my kid's school recently because I put celery and peanut butter in their bags for their afternoon snack.

I'm like we can't send anything that has peanuts in it. So again, I'm not an analogist. I am not immunologist. I'm a nurse that's really interested in the microbiome, right?

But I believe that the reason that we're seeing so many issues in GI and allergies and things like that is because we don't develop that acquired immune system early like we did as kids and also our food and our water.

Yeah. You factor in, you know, your first exposure to pro-biotic is you're in a vaginal canal, so if you have a C-section, that's where you get your anastinophilus, and then your epithelium is from mother's mouth.

So if you're a C-section and you don't get mother's milk, you've missed the first two opportunities for your immune system. I mean, when you look at the studies, these are the kids with the tubes in their ears, the asthma, allergies, allergy shots that you see all the time, especially in our wellness centers.

So it's gotten to the point where it was this perfect storm now. And I think that's why the IgG by Nutritional Frontiers will use the immunoline ingredient has been so effective and same with our GI protocols, right, Christine, that, you know, this is still our number one category.

And again, I was watching my friend's podcast over the weekend and he was just stressing, just don't eat that processed stuff and just even give your digestive system a break.

Like he's recommending our shakes. He's like, You don' t need all this food volume that people think we do. He says, if you look back at history, you didn't eat as much of this.

You can't even get out of the grocery line because there's junk everywhere. So the GI solutions has been our top category. And this is probably why you combine that with the overabundance of antibiotics, not only from the doctor, but also in the food supply also.

Absolutely. It's unbelievable what you're exposed to. So I tell people to eat real foods and organic whenever possible, especially like grass-fed beef and things like that.

Dairy alternatives, I'll do the almond milk or the coconut milk. These are all different ways that people can give their digestive system a break from all the processed things that they're going through.

Yeah, so let's fast forward. So we launched that clinical efficacious immunolent product called Enterogam. It's still available, but it's for my train wrecks, my people that I see them come in the clinic, I'd be like, all right, let me see what we're gonna do today, you know, type thing.

My IBS, Crohn's, ulcerative colitis. I have a large HIV population that utilizes it to bolster their immune system. But at the end of the day, It's just a hearty, dense, rich protein with a high immunoglobulin content.

And so I'm literally looking at this one day and I've been like kind of giving it to friends and things like that without a prescription because it's so safe.

I was like, well, why can't we do that? And I said, I bet we won't need a really high dose. So the first thing we did is we another safety study and then I did a supplement dosing study at the University of North Texas.

And, because again, if I can fix your grandma with 10 years of Crohn's, I could probably fix you college son with a little bit of traveler's diarrhea.

And so we did that. We took students at the University of North Texas and we, we a baseline. The baseline LPS lipopolysaccharide, which is the most abundant inflammatory bacteria in your gut.

It's the one that causes the problems, right? Because there's so much of it. Lipopolysaccharide or LPS makes up about 50% of the inflammatory antigen load in your microbiome today.

Where are people getting that from? They're getting it from food, air, everywhere. It's also a derivative die off of other bacteria degradation and things like that in the microbiome.

It is a driven of some metabolism of commensal bacteria as it's trying to do its thing in in microbiomes. I appreciate you guys did that because when I show the doctors the LPS is on the list.

they really get excited, right? They love C. diff, LPS, Candida, you know, some of the stuff like that you only see in the hospitals, these really nasty infections.

So the fact that that to it. And then as an even cooler bonus on the newer studies, I love how you showed you improved nutrition absorption by as much as 9%. Right.

So usually important. Well, that showcase how important the integrity of the gut barrier is, right? If your gut barriers all chewed up and it's just allowing a free flow of good bacteria, bad bacteria.

Your immune system is just going, I don't know what to grab or what do. And you get caught in this, this hamster wheel of low grade inflammation. Like you're running on a treadmill and you not going anywhere.

Right. You've got to first remove the antigens. Then your immune system is going to recognize that and go, okay, less inflammatory bacteria. We can send out anti-inflammatory messengers to help cool that gut lining down and allow that.

Barrier to slowly start to contract and grow back together till we get to here. Hmm. I personally do two scoops when I'm using it and I'll do that for a couple of months and then I will take a break.

What type of dosing are you recommending? One is just for preventive purposes and two would be some of those lower level conditions and a more severe condition.

Great question. So that's actually where we got to the university of North Texas study. We did a baseline of LPS for every one of the patients that were involved in the study, then we gave them a high fat processed diet, right?

Which was, we let them vote on it, which was pretty funny. It turned out to be a tombstone, a large tomb stone pizza. He gave him the large to stone Pizza.

Then we tested their LPs levels. Obviously they were through the roof, We then started giving them one or two grams of immunolin for the next 45 days.

Then on day 45, we tested their LPS levels. They were back at baseline, pretty low. And then we gave them the Tombstone pizza and guess what? The Lps levels didn't rise.

Because the active IgG from the immunolent supplementation was working to bind on to anything that was coming in. Also, the epithelial layer of the gut lining had turned over, had gotten stronger, and the diversity of microbiome had changed.

They had increases in short chain fatty acid production, they had tighter gut barrier function, their absorbing more water and protein, And when they have that acute insult of a high LPS derived diet, their levels did not go up.

So this is a change that maintains throughout life. Are you telling me that my mom's favorite food pizza can be eaten as long as she takes IGG? Did I just hear that correctly?

That's exactly what you heard. What's next? Vanilla ice cream? Is that coming next. That is amazing. Doesn't do anything to lactose. It doesn't touch the lactase.

Okay. We got Probezyme for that. That's amazing. Wow. What that did is it revealed to us though, for your mild to moderate, you know, patient population, one to two grams is all you need.

And so let's talk dosing again. So obviously five grams for IBS, IBD, your immunosuppressed populations. If you're just coming off of like a bout of a broad spectrum antibody like a vancomycin or something like that, you might want to use a little bit of higher dose.

But for standard acute onset actions, one to two grams is all that you need. I've been asked a couple of times, not many, but there was one or two docs that were asking me, at higher dosing, is there any concern with constipation?

I'm not sure where that came from. And I just wanted to see what your thoughts were on that. So it's not constipation. It's called perceived consti patient for a couple reasons.

Number one, number one. If your norm is to go to the bathroom seven times a day, and I take you down to one you're going to have some questions. Yeah.

actually have a unique patient experience. This happened to me exactly. I was in her room charting ins and outs and she was like, Brian, I'm constipated.

And I just, i didn't even look back. i just kind of giggled, you know, it was, like all right, tell me why you think you're consti. She's like well, Bryan, You're about to leave.

That means you've been in 12 hours and I've only gone once today. and i said, well how many times a day do you, think, should be going? And she had this kind of like aha moment and it was changing her norm.

So if your norm is five, six times a day and you go down to one, you're not constipated. You're at your new normal, right? That's the first thing. Second thing, a bound antigen, about bacteria mold fungi is going to take up more space in the microbiome than an unbound one.

So, if you've got a ton of LPS and other antigens and mycotoxins, things like that, and you bind them all up, right? Because that's how immunoline works.

It binds onto it, increases its overall size so that it's too big to flow through that damaged gut lining and set off that inflammatory response. So fewer foreign antigins.

They're all bound up. For a very small period of time, that patient may go, ooh, I kind of feel a little bloated, good. Good you just mobilized all the bad guys and now you need to increase your water Increase your walking and activity and move those through the GI tract through your bowel movement.

Oh, I love it perceive Constipation wait till Mikey gets hold of that one microphone. That's a good one. No, I mean it makes sense and I'm really glad that you described that too, right?

Because I think it really helps to kind of envision that, you know, that it binds to things and that well, well you naturally have to move it out of your body then.

So I that's really helpful to have a visual to go along with that. Absolutely. So another visual that I use a lot of times is like, if you've ever played, you know, beach volleyball, I like a little Sunday volleyball game in the backyard with the family, right?

If you're looking at the net, it's got all the holes in it, that's your damaged gut microbiome. That's, your gut barrier. If we take a ping pong ball or that bacteria, the LPS, and you throw that ping-pong ball at that net it is going to go right through.

that is what is happening on a daily basis. Now, when immunoline binds on to that ping pong ball, that LPS, it increases and changes its size to the size of a volleyball.

Now if you throw that volleyball up against that net, what happens? Comes right back. That's what's happening with a bound antigen when immune is involved.

They can check out this podcast. And I do have a couple more questions. I know we are getting closer to time. The other question I get from healthcare professionals is the comparisons of immunoline versus colostrum.

Yep. right, because it was interesting. I try and give them my pitch on it, right? We were looking at colostrum. We met you guys. It was like back and forth.

And then we started getting some more of the clinical data, higher immunoglobulins, you know, more purified formulas. But I want it from the experts. So what is your answer to that question, colosterone versus immunoline?

But colostrum can be an absolutely great tool in your gut health toolbox, but it's molecularly inferior to a serum-based IgG like immunolin, which is what you have in you IgProg.

Here's the way that I look at it. If you were, let's say JD, right, is at bat in the home run derby, if he was using colosum, it'd be like trying to win the Home Run Derby with a tennis racket.

It's just not the right tool. Right. You want a Louisville slugger and that's what you're going to get with an immunoline product and say, okay, those are just words, Brian.

What does that mean? Well, first off with colostrum, 30% of the population cannot take dairy. Right? So they're off the plate already with a serum based IGG.

Don't have to worry about that. You can still help that other 30%. Let's start with overall protein. A good colostrum, because there's a lot of fakers out there right now, good 20 to 25% colosum is about 50% protein, and medolin is over 90% percent protein So double the protein Now let's talk about what really makes this product work.

IgG, the immunoglobulin. right? A good colostrum. Again, there's a lot of a bad actors out right out there right now. They're not even putting the IGG concentration on the supplement facts panel because they can't source a consistent amount of Colossum to be able to even support it.

So let's say if you found a good one and it's 20% IgG, Aminoin is over 50%. So you got double the Igg, double, the protein, none of the lactose. And here's the other carrier.

Now I know this is going to speak directly to you JD, quality. The process to extract colostrum from thousands of dairies to then make one lot of colosum is inconsistent.

It's all over the place. So what you find is you get a little bit of endotoxin in most of your immunoline products. And we actually did a, we did, a head-to-head study.

where we took the five bestselling colostrum products off of Amazon and we test them for protein, IgG, and endotoxin. Every single one of the coloster products had endo toxin in it.

This is literally what we're trying to get rid of. But in the chain of custody and the inconsistencies in manufacturing and collection process, you get some endotoxin in there.

There's none of that in an immunoline product. Because the way that it's manufactured and collected. facility and we're proline health and biologics. Health is the immunoline side and the enterogam side.

The biologic side, we actually make various peptides that go into drug manufacturing, vaccine development, diagnostic assays. So we are scrutinized and held to the highest level of manufacturing in the entire world.

Your colostrum producers, they just don't. Wow. Yeah, and those are some of the reasons why. Thanks for refreshing my memory. I knew that the protein content was less and the last thing that really got me was they were providing a range on colostrum then because they couldn't get the consistencies right with some in the IgG levels.

So when we met you guys, it was much more consistent, stronger research and I felt a much better option. Plus you and your team, you know, working with Mac at the time and you, You know, it was the right team to work with.

And we're very selective with our patent and research trademark ingredients. You're at the Supply Side Show. There was thousands of booths there, but not all of them had the same level of passion, experience, and knowledge that you guys have, second to none.
