About Dominic D’Agostino

Dominic D’Agostino, Ph.D., is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine and a Visiting Senior Research Scientist at the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition. He teaches medical neuroscience, physiology, nutrition, and neuropharmacology.

His research spans basic science and human clinical trials, focusing on nutritional and metabolic therapies for neurological disorders, cancer, and human performance. A central emphasis is translating ketogenic diets and ketone supplementation into clinical applications. His work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, Office of Naval Research, industry partners, and nonprofit foundations. He also served as a research investigator and crew member on NASA’s NEEMO 22 mission to measure physiological and blood biomarkers.

As an Advisor to Choose Health and co-author of a forthcoming white paper, Dr. D’Agostino is exploring the relationship between repeated at-home biomarker testing and cardiometabolic health. For this conversation, he brings a practical perspective on using biomarkers to establish a baseline, guide personalized nutrition and lifestyle decisions, and evaluate responses to medications and supplements. His interest is in turning health data into informed action, with an emphasis on metabolic health, disease prevention, and preserving health and function throughout aging.
