Dr. Emily Roedersheimer is a functional medicine physician, former family medicine doctor, and founder of Balanced Living Functional Medicine, a virtual practice dedicated to helping overwhelmed high-performing women heal from the inside out.
After years in conventional medicine, Dr. Emily became increasingly frustrated by a healthcare system focused on symptom management, rushed appointments, and fragmented care — especially for women struggling with chronic fatigue, autoimmune disease, anxiety, burnout, brain fog, and hormonal imbalances. Her own personal journey with reversing her own rheumatoid arthritis led her to discover a different path: one rooted not in doing more, but in creating the conditions that allow the body to heal.
Today, Dr. Emily is known for her deeply supportive, nervous-system-aware approach to functional medicine. Rather than starting with expensive testing, restrictive protocols, or overwhelming treatment plans, she helps women rebuild health through foundational lifestyle shifts, nervous system regulation, nourishment, rest, connection, and sustainable daily rhythms.
Her philosophy is simple but powerful:
healing cannot happen in survival mode.
Through her signature “foundations-first” approach, Dr. Emily helps women move out of chronic stress and self-abandonment and into a place of safety, clarity, self-trust, and vitality. She believes symptoms are not random malfunctions, but intelligent signals from a body asking for support.
Dr. Emily’s work has helped hundreds of women reduce symptoms, reclaim energy, reconnect with themselves, and create lasting change without perfectionism, punishment, or overwhelm. She has been featured at the annual international conference for the Institute for Functional Medicine and is the host of the “Push Pause to Heal” podcast, where she explores the connection between modern life, nervous system overload, and chronic illness.
Her mission is to help women realize:
their bodies are not broken — they need to feel safe enough to heal.
