Hyperthyroidism

Hyperthyroidism is a condition characterized by an overactive thyroid gland, resulting in the excessive production of thyroid hormones. It can be caused by conditions such as Graves' disease, toxic nodular goiter, or thyroiditis. Common symptoms of hyperthyroidism include weight loss, increased appetite, rapid or irregular heartbeat, trembling hands, anxiety, irritability, heat intolerance, sweating, and fatigue. The condition can also lead to eye problems, such as bulging eyes or eye irritation. Treatment options for hyperthyroidism depend on the underlying cause but often include medications to regulate thyroid hormone levels, radioactive iodine therapy to reduce thyroid function, or surgery to remove part or all of the thyroid gland. Regular monitoring and management are necessary to maintain optimal thyroid function and overall health.
