Lps

LPS stands for lipopolysaccharide, which is a molecule found in the outer membrane of certain types of bacteria, particularly gram-negative bacteria. LPS is considered an endotoxin and can trigger a strong immune response in the body. When bacteria containing LPS are present, the immune system recognizes it as a foreign invader and initiates an inflammatory response. While inflammation is an essential defense mechanism, excessive or chronic activation of the immune system due to LPS can lead to harmful effects and is implicated in various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Additionally, LPS has been studied in the context of the gut microbiome and its potential effects on gut health and overall well-being.
