Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar levels resulting from insulin resistance and inadequate insulin production. It is the most common form of diabetes, typically occurring in adulthood, although it is increasingly diagnosed in children and adolescents due to rising obesity rates. Risk factors for type 2 diabetes include obesity, sedentary lifestyle, family history, and certain ethnic backgrounds. Symptoms may include increased thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, blurred vision, and slow wound healing. Complications can arise if blood sugar levels are not properly managed, including heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, nerve damage, and eye problems. Treatment for type 2 diabetes involves lifestyle modifications, such as healthy eating, regular physical activity, weight management, and, in some cases, medication or insulin therapy.
