The Fitness Skills That Matter as We Age

Understand why walking may not provide every fitness stimulus needed for healthy aging. Balance and agility, lower-body strength, cardiorespiratory fitness, and higher-intensity activity each appear to offer different benefits, making a varied movement routine worth considering. Discover why exercise intensity may matter for bone health. Dr. Pat McShane reviews research in which high-intensity training increased osteocalcin, a marker involved in bone remodeling, while emphasizing that changes in a biomarker do not necessarily mean bone density itself has improved. Recognize the value of maintaining balance, strength, and cardiovascular fitness as you grow older. Recent observational research found that older adults who performed better in these areas also had lower all-cause mortality, reinforcing the importance of training physical abilities that support mobility and independence.

Your EMF Pendant Isn’t The Fix — Why Harmonizing Beats Blocking Cory Hillis, Founder, EMF Solutions

Blocking vs. harmonizing. Cory shares his perspective on why traditional EMF blocking methods (like pendants or partial Faraday cages) often fall short against modern technology, and why he considers harmonizing the "subatomic chaos" a more comprehensive strategy for the whole home. Fiber optics and increased exposure. Cory discusses his estimate that high-speed underground fiber optic cables carry a signal frequency dramatically higher than a standard router — up to 40,000 times, by his estimate — and shares why he believes this adds to the cellular stress he describes for people living near this infrastructure. Cell phones and heat. Cory explains the physics of how microwaves heat food by vibrating molecules to create friction, and shares his view that holding a cell phone to the head may create a similar, low-level friction effect. Harmonizing and sleep: one personal account. Danielle shares that, in her own experience, she noticed a return to deeper, more restorative sleep after harmonizing her home’s electrical system. This is an individual account, not a typical or guaranteed result. A practical preference: wired over Bluetooth. The conversation includes a tip Cory shares: he personally prefers wired headphones over Bluetooth earbuds as one way to reduce radiofrequency exposure near the head. This is a personal preference, not a medical recommendation.

Magnificent Mushrooms: Lion’s Mane – Memory, Focus & Brain Health

On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared takes a deep dive into Lion's Mane, one of the most talked-about medicinal mushrooms for cognitive health, focus, memory, mood, and nervous system support. Jared explores the fascinating history of this unique mushroom, the science behind compounds like hericenones and erinacines, and how they may support nerve growth factor (NGF) and neuroplasticity. He reviews human clinical research on cognitive performance, mood, stress, and long-term brain health while helping listeners understand the differences between powders, extracts, capsules, gummies, fruiting body products, and mycelium-based supplements. Jared also shares his personal experience using Lion's Mane, discusses practical dosing strategies, and explains how to combine it with other supplements and lifestyle habits to support healthy brain function and overall vitality.

Life on Earth 101: The Genetics of Aging, Identity, and Everything In Between

Genetics is not static. Contrary to popular belief that our DNA "never changes," Park explains that copying errors accumulate over a lifetime (genetic drift) — like a photocopy of a photocopy gradually degrading. Epigenetics is the real software layer. Genes themselves matter less than which ones get switched on or off (via methylation and acetylation) — explaining why a heart cell and a brain cell share identical DNA yet function completely differently, and why humans and chimps can share 98% of their genes yet look nothing alike. Aging is a story of cellular depletion, not just mutation. Using the "lint trap" analogy, Park frames aging as a gradual loss of stem cell reserve and immune flexibility — illustrated by the case of a Dutch supercentenarian whose immune system had only two clonal variants left, versus the ~10,000 a healthy person carries.

Treating Anxiety Like a Poison: An ER Doctor’s Approach to OCD

There is no morality in a ritual: Scott explains why he tells a child that washing three times and washing a thousand times are equally safe, and what opens up for that child once neither one is right or wrong. The brain is not broken, it is early: checking, rechecking and ritual are useful adult skills. Pilots and resuscitation teams run on them. Scott's framing is that the timing is off, not the child. Why panic is a normal reaction at the wrong moment: the fight-or-flight response is doing exactly what it was built to do. Learn the question Scott asks himself before anything else, and the answer he says out loud.

Water’s Job Isn’t To Hydrate You

Dormant, not dead: Todd's mentor pushed back on the idea that treated water is beyond saving. The distinction matters, because one of those words means there is something you can do about it. The order of operations most people get backward: if you filter after you revitalize, Todd says you have undone the work. Learn where each step belongs in the sequence. RO, distilled, spring and tap are four different tools: Todd assigns each one a job instead of crowning a winner, and he is specific about when he reaches for reverse osmosis and why he does not drink it every day.

The Vitamin Your Child’s Brain May Not Be Getting

A transport problem, not a diet problem: Lindsey describes autoantibodies that bind the folate receptors at the blood-brain barrier, so folate can be present in the body and still not get where it is needed. Why this went unlooked-for so long: the reference-standard test was a spinal tap. A blood test changed who gets evaluated, and Lindsey walks through what it involves and what it currently costs. How she thinks about a child who is always flaring: when the pattern stops looking like flare-and-recover, she looks harder at infection, and explains why tick-borne illness sits so high on her list.
