Dr. Andrea Austin is an internationally recognized emergency physician, educator, and healthcare changemaker. She earned her Master’s in Health Professions Education from the Uniformed Services University, where her thesis, Changemaking in Healthcare, explored how individual transformation catalyzes organizational change to improve healthcare systems. Her work integrates this research into practical, evidence-informed strategies for creating meaningful and sustainable change in medicine.A Navy veteran and former lieutenant commander, Dr. Austin deployed to Iraq and later served at the Navy Trauma Training Center (NTTC) at LA General, training military teams in high-stakes emergency care. She now serves as the inaugural Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida—a Vituity site affiliated with the Florida State University College of Medicine—where she is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences.She is also the host of the podcast Heartline: Changemaking in Healthcare, which highlights the stories and strategies of healthcare innovators driving transformation across systems.
