Keystone species such as Akkermansia, Faecalibacterium, and Bifidobacterium help defend and rebuild the gut lining and support gut–brain signaling and nutrient absorption. Problems with bile acids or intestinal permeability impair digestion and nutrient sensing, so even a healthy diet may not be fully absorbed. Practical first steps are a whole‑food, plant‑rich diet with clean/organic choices when possible, lean proteins, plenty of fiber, and healthy fats (nuts, fatty fish); minimize pesticides and toxins.
