Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS), is a complex and debilitating medical condition characterized by severe fatigue that is not alleviated by rest and lasts for at least six months. Individuals with CFS often experience other symptoms such as cognitive difficulties, muscle and joint pain, unrefreshing sleep, and post-exertional malaise. The exact cause of CFS remains unknown, but it may be triggered by viral infections, immune system dysfunction, or other factors. Diagnosis can be challenging, and there is currently no specific cure for CFS. Management typically involves symptom relief, lifestyle adjustments, and a multidisciplinary approach that includes medical care, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and pacing strategies to manage energy levels.
