Insulin Resistance
Insulin resistance is a condition in which the body's cells become less responsive to the effects of insulin, a hormone that regulates blood sugar levels. As a result, the body needs to produce more insulin to maintain normal blood glucose levels, leading to higher insulin concentrations in the bloodstream. Insulin resistance is a key factor in the development of type 2 diabetes and is often associated with obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and poor dietary choices. Addressing insulin resistance involves lifestyle modifications such as adopting a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, and maintaining a healthy weight. Early detection and management of insulin resistance are crucial for preventing or delaying the onset of type 2 diabetes and its associated complications.
