What Home Insemination Is 0:00
I did about your company and the amazing things you guys are up to. We are really excited to talk about the Mosie baby. So what exactly is home insemination? Yeah. So this is a question we get asked all the time. And I love helping people understand that home insemination has been around for a long time. So what we've done at Mosie baby with the creation of the Mosie baby kit is designed a syringe, which is, you know, here I like my kids do that too, but ultimately design a kit to help aid in the transfer of semen to the the vagina effectively called intervaginal insemination.
The kit that we do when insemination has been around through the turkey based method, quote unquote, you know, and that's where this really came from. Our story, trying that method, you know, as a couple who was diagnosed with unexplained infertility and more a method that we could do at home on our own at a time of our choosing and have a little bit of control over that process and a period of our lives that did not feel very controlled. And we also want to make sure we had done everything we could prior to going on to REI So REI, which we can talk about to, you know, in-clinic insemination.
But what we do is insemination at mosie baby is one insemination And we prefer this method personally. And it's because it's simple, it's easy, it's direct. And it's a very low cost way for your goal of helping, you know, through your consumption journey. We provide to the cervix at or near the cervix. And so we designed a syringe that is patented that is, you know, optimal length. We have a lot of features around it, which I can, too. But ultimately, home insemination is where you take semen and transfer it to the vagina at or near the cervix.
And there's a couple that can be done. But ultimately we have a syringe designed for that process. Yeah. And so who is this the right thing for? Like, I know there's so many people struggling with fertility.
Who Mosie Baby Is For 2:25
Like, where is this the best use case? Yes. So when we started mosie baby way back in 2015, you know, we were very focused on who had obstacles to conception because either they were like us and they were looking to try everything they could at home. And, you know, sex had become very frustrating. Timed intercourse often can quickly become a argument and would have frustration and not very sexy when you walk out, as I have done after peeing on a stick and tell your husband, now, give me the sperm now So and then, you know, obviously if you missing an entire month sometimes you know so it's a really tedious and frustrating process for partners.
And then also if you happen to love somebody who shares the same body parts as you, you clearly need some support. Yeah. And then further, if your choice or single parent by choice and you are ready to create your family, you have to find a way to do that. And so what we did in our company is really the parameters that customers were finding us and people were finding us. But it's really been interesting to see that there are so many other parts to pregnancy and family that we were able to support.
Yeah. So really that's the kind of core group, you know, people who are looking for a way to transfer at home and started there really, truly wasn't anything like most baby and that's why we started the company. And so we've been the first to market and to really help develop the space and as well the first to receive FDA clearance for international insemination. Mm hmm. And so what does the FDA clearance mean? What does that get? Mm hmm. Yeah. So most people don't fully understand, like, what FDA clearance FDA is like while the terms are there.
So FDA approves are for life saving devices more like pharmaceuticals, and that's a different process. So what Mosie has gone through old 510 Okay, so it's the FDA review process where they work with you and you work with them to us for clearance and really what they do is they look at safety testing. You want to you have to show and prove to the FDA they are reviewing information that you are submitting to them, that you are designed for what you're saying you're designed for and you are safe to use.
And, you know, within certain criteria that they're looking at, the survivability of sperm
FDA Clearance and Safety 5:09
is one of the things that is looked at and, you know, motility and looking at the materials that you're using so it's safe for the vaginal environment. Nonirritating toxic. So a lot that goes into the testing as well. Looking at the use of your product, who's using it are these? I understand it. Our instructions are designed to help support people who are at varying degrees of literacy. And so, you know, those are a lot of things that are taken into in the FDA review process. And so when you get FDA clearance, you have met a very high bar on quality and you know, again, with the instructions.
So as a provider, it's really people to understand like, oh yeah, actually my patient is going to be able to understand and do this at home like it has been reviewed by the FDA. There's been tests that have been done. So those are some of the elements with it. Yeah, it does require clearance for home insemination devices and that is something that people should be aware of when using a home insemination device. So your company is actually following FDA regulation and does have FDA clearance. You mean we shouldn't actually go out and buy this home based insemination.
Cases like that? Like, you know, there's beyond that. You know, I understand. Like, people are industrious and bold, right? People are going to do what they're going to do. So many people are in positions where they want a family and, you know, they're going to find ways to create their family. What we're here for is for people who are in a position to build their family with the tools that are right for them. There are, you know, some people who have tried to you know, it happens in every way. And the reason I bring this up is because I want to give a word, caution that there are, you know, some mimic products out there that are trying to take advantage.
So we're very cautious of the people in our community and we're very mindful language and everything that we do. So we just want to point that out, that people should be asking that, you know, if your home insemination have an issue, that's definitely something you want to be aware. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Do you when insemination comes to mind? I also think like sperm motility the issues a really great place to introduce home insemination outside of all the other factors that you referred because like helping the sperm get closer to the cervix, be helpful in that case.
I'm curious if you if you agree or if you've seen that be useful application.
Research, Motility, and Early Results 7:54
Yeah. So what I can say is that there is a lack of study in this area of home insemination. Most research has been done, as one can imagine, on IVF. And then someone asked why and almost none on home insemination. We did a retrospective study that looked at the use of our our community. But it's imperfect, right? Because we're, you know, surveying our customers. But we did have 50 verified users respond to that. And so there is information out there about our study. Where we are right now is we are in conversations research at this point.
And so it's very exciting. I think we're at the forefront of home insemination and over time I do believe there will be further research that shows the effectiveness of this product. And specifically the way we designed it with our slit opening creates a gentler flow to mimic Mother Nature's design of the penile opens, creates a wider, longer spray. So, you know, there's some stuff that we've taken into account when designing our syringe and about as well the length we guide people on how far to insert it up to the handles.
That's also an optimal length that you want that you want to insert irony duct you short. So I think over time we'll be able to to show around as with motility and specific areas like maybe unexplained infertility in other areas. Right now, though, there's very little data out there. So we can what we can do is we can say, you know, we have success stories around this and we have them on our website and other places that people ask with sperm motility issues. And results may vary. And we hope to at one point in the future be able to specifically as a provider hears that the information that you need for patients who have this motility and that's, I believe, where the industry will be and the next decade.
I love it. I can't wait for that research to come out, I think. And you guys are at the forefront of this, so it's really exciting times. Italy, the world with just like how much innovation is happening in this space in general and then the home insemination space. I feel like when I when I found out about you guys, I was like, Oh, that was so great. And certainly to have that emotional hurdle that you just like tiny sacks, men feeling really like fight and kind of not excited is a pain in that it really bypasses some of the emotional struggle on the fertility journey.
I can I can see it now. I'm going to be like have all other times except for when you're avoiding use the cat. Now and that's where you watch me. Some people, you know, say that that they are you know, we see yeah use must not we've sold of walking a thousand kids we've thousands and thousands of people in that space trying to conceive at home with our you know syringe in our kit. And and it's like there are literally sacks during the conception time or they, they maybe do a little bit of both. And that just alleviates pressure because they're leaving at 5 a.m.
and you're leaving at a minimum, but you're obviously eating and,
Using the Kit and Timing Attempts 11:16
you know, like, well, that's our chance. Your is up to an hour where you can use our kit so has been helpful for people and just one basic little window that they might not have otherwise had where sex maybe isn't desirable at 5 a.m. Some people like it. Not everybody on a Tuesday morning went outside. Yeah, but that's something where you can, you know, time it. Maybe he leaves that and she can wake up at like, you know, 530 or 545 and they don't have the pressure. Right. And I think that's the biggest thing.
Like the pressure is really not useful for men because so many of them describe the pressure of like need to perform when times. Is. Stressful and to do that cycle like go after a cycle can certainly just all of the things that are happening. So relieving that is seems like a real advantage. And some people you know, they want the intimacy and they want to be involved in the process. So we did to our tents where, you know, you can inseminate yourself or your partner can in something that's unique to us as well, that that everything where you can have somebody and involves us or not, you know, and you have to some people are like, nah, I managed to leave it on the table and I'll, I'll do it myself, which is totally fine.
Right. Like getting done is what it becomes about, you know, making sure that every box is checked. And but, you know, that's why I love what we've been able to do is to be people, some breathing room then, you know, even seeing some doctors, some areas incorporate it into their practice where they'll say, you know, what they've done in are UI, but they'll tell certain couples, go home and have sex. And they're like, That really interests me. What I. And so instead they'll say, you know, you can use my as baby.
Yeah, go you can use most maybe just try to get something going and that can help the process. Little Yeah. Absolutely. I'm curious if you probably get this question a lot, but I'm curious if this option is a perhaps men that are going to be away during the ovulation window or like, hey, I'm going to be traveling and she's obviously going, what do we do to get an option for that? So right now, where the technology stands and comes lamination, that is not possible. Okay. And it really is about the survivability of the sperm.
Of the sperm. Yeah, that's what I figured. Well. You didn't say we might have the ability to head our home and still get the change. And you know, there's there's options out there, but those are they're gonna happen. So, no, I think more than in more people. Okay. Now our timeframe is what we have. Yeah, yeah. Okay. I figured I'd ask because. Great question. No, no, I know. Yeah. I do think, you know, when you get down to it at some point in the future is probably going to exist. Yeah. But that it's technically challenging thing to do.
Yeah, exactly. And like freezing sperm at home is just not super doable right now. Yeah. Yeah. No, you can't put it in your freezer. And that's a question we look well we guys and I love it and I understand where they're coming from has to have a family and build their so strong but do not put semen in the freezer. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm curious. Like, what are the companies where you can like meals, they have some sort of solution or something that that sperm is sitting in. But yeah, I'm curious if there's something there, but.
Oh, yes, yes. Oh, that's a top we could have a conversation another day. I love talking about all that stuff, but really right now, you know, we do work with cryogenically frozen semen. You know, you can use our kit with a a sperm bank. So it is used, but it has to be done in the right way. Right. And, you know, getting sperm released is possible in most states, almost all state. And so that's something where you some of them require more involvement than others. But it is actually an option and we have seen success in those journeys.
Oh, awesome. That's exciting. In terms of like the frequency with which people do in some nations, like how often in a cycle or from cycle to cycle should they try? You know, we haven't even showed the kit So we should talk through that because the kit talks to us. So the kit, by the way, is available. Yes. Optum store. If you have UnitedHealth Group insurance, you can use your FSA. It is FSA covered, but it comes with We have the her which part which is hard to see, but it's you know, a lot of thoughtful design which you can read about in mosiebaby.com and then we have inside it comes with two attempt 4 kit two attempts and we recommend 3 to 6.
We want to make sure that you are moving on to other options. You know, after you cycles we really feel like, you know, but you've given them a good shot. But it's time for people at that point to to consider other options. So with Mosie we have our instructions here and then we have two proprietary collection cops when store and then the syringes we have two of them in here is support. This takes you direct to support page. So if you have any questions in the process, you can get some answers
Pricing, Availability, and Support 17:00
there. Obviously we're here to help too. And then the instructions here, which are very recent and, you know, walk you through the process with some education as well for you to understand about ovulation. And we do say here, how cycle should I Mosie? But we answer that here as well. But just like intercourse you know, often times it can take multiple cycles. And, you know, along the way we want to support you and we want to celebrates and teach you that journey. We are here to help people through that and love hearing their stories and continuing to be a part of that journey that are the mosie communities is really remarkable.
There's so many people who have gone through so many different things and the journey can be a wild one, as we all know. And we're here for my for some were the first stop, some were the last. Somewhere in the middle. You know, there's just many different ways that people find work and, you know, we're here to help. Yeah. Love it. People purchase the kit. Is there anything else that they should know before purchasing? Yeah. So we're available at our website. mosiebaby.com, Amazon were on Upper and Walmart we also are I believe we're going have a promo for it's $50 per an attempt especially when you have it just so it can easily come down to about $40 for an attempt and a kit.
So it usually costs around $99 depending on discounts. It can be a little bit less than that. And then we do sell a three kit fertility pack so that people who do want to ensure that they get the best deal and they're, you know, they're going to try for more than one cycle. Some people have more than one kit in one cycle because they really want to do, you know, for it survive attempts. And again, that's up to the people doing the inseminating in the home. awesome Well, we will include the links and send out info about your promo and all of that like you guys are just doing awesome work and I think it's such a necessity to have them have an option that says, Hey, if you've maybe not gotten pregnant, it's not working or you aren't quite ready to jump to either IVF.
This is a good step along that process. Definitely, definitely. And we have some other products along that process as well, like ovulation kits and things. But ultimately we are here to support you. As you know, you find your place in this journey. We want to support you as men and we truly mean no matter the path like we want you to have success. So please, if anyone is watching and they have questions, let us now reach out. Happy to chat, happy to understand where you are and what we can do to help awesome Well, thank you for being with us today and sharing all of the cool things that you guys are up to.
And and the demo of the kit, which I think is really helpful just for people to get a visual about what's in the kit and how. thank you I'm so glad To talk with you, good to see you. And good to see you, too. Bye bye.
