As promised, I'm back. Last time we had a look at the free tier of Offscript. And if you're not familiar with Off script, it's a brand new platform available for clinicians to find jobs and optimize their CV and get everything they need to move into industry positions. So on the free tier last time, we looked at the dashboard. We looked the job section where you can find relevant jobs for clinicians. You can filter by various types, even internship part-time. And if you click on a job, you do get the option to create a tailored CV in the Free tier.

we also looked that the CV generation. So if upload your CV, it'll give you a score and help you improve your cv. Today, I want to dive further deeper. I've been given some behind the scenes access. about various pivots into industry careers. So I'd highly recommend. There's no right or wrong here. Wherever you are in your thinking is a great place to start. So tell me what's going on for you right now. Hey Alex, I'm a bit frustrated with my clinical work. I don't really know what to do outside of medicine. Just so frustrated. And I mean, thinking about doing this aesthetics course, coming up to CCD very soon.

Don't even know actually if I want to see CT or not. Help me figure this out. Hear that frustration. And it sounds like you are carrying a lot right now, especially with that big decision about your certificate of completion of training hanging over you. It is completely normal to feel stuck when you have invested so much time into a path that no longer feels right. Since you mentioned an aesthetics course, are you looking for something that keeps you hands-on with patients but in a more controlled environment?

Or is it the clinical setting itself that you're ready to step away from? Also, what is about the current work that is causing the most friction for you right Hopefully that's going to pause the conversation. Is it listening? I think it's listening. I just wanted to share some commentary with you with like the stacked questions in there and then there's like lots going on. And obviously I'm imagining a scenario where I am asking for help. But I will try and continue hopefully. Let's see what it says.

I am still here and listening. It sounds like there is a lot on your mind, from the pressure of finishing your training to exploring something like aesthetics as a potential exit. To help us narrow things down, what is the main thing that makes you feel frustrated when you are at work lately? Is it the heavy clinical workload or perhaps a lack of flexibility in your schedule? Isn't in all of that, Alex, like we're just so frustrated and NHS is so put out. I'm so done with this. Um, I just need to weigh out, to be honest, don't fully want to leave clinical work.

That's why I was thinking about aesthetics. It's still something to do with my hands and at least I am not starting from scratch. But you know, the world of health tech, everybody keeps talking about, it seems quite interesting as well. What's available? What can I do? It makes total sense that you would want to leverage the hands-on skills you have already built rather than starting from zero, which is why aesthetics feels like a natural bridge. In the world of health tech, there are actually several ways to stay connected to patient impact without the same clinical burnout, such as working as a clinical lead or a product manager where you help design the tools other doctors use.

Since you mentioned being interested in technology, but not wanting to fully leave clinical work, Have you ever thought about roles where you act as the clinical voice for a startup or a digital health platform? What is it about the health tech world that specifically caught your eye? I mean, could I do that? Like, do I need to go and do another degree? Yeah. I don't have much money to invest. And to be honest, I needed to make a decision whether I stay or I go. Don't I'm not sure I can do a halfway house.

The great news is that you definitely do not need another degree to transition into health tech as your clinical experience is your most valuable asset to these companies. They are often looking for the specific medical insight and credibility that only someone who has worked on the front lines can provide. I completely understand the financial pressure and the need for a... Can I do that as a registrar? Like I don't have decades of experience, I'm not an NHS consultant yet. Are these opportunities available for me?

Actually, being a registrar is a fantastic time to explore these roles, because you are still very close to the day-to-day challenges of frontline medicine. Many health tech companies value that current practical perspective more than they do decades of senior management experience. You could look into roles like a clinical safety officer or a Clinical Advisor, where your job is to make sure the technology actually works for doctors and patients. Since you are weighing up, whether to finish your training or jump now, does the idea of a hybrid role where you do some clinical work and some tech work

feel more or less stressful to you? Um, I'm not entirely sure. I mean, the safety officer thing doesn't seem to appeal to me. Don't like rigid rules, but what about the advisor? Like, what does that look like? That is a fair point. as clinical safety can definitely feel a bit more procedural and rule heavy. As a clinical advisor, your role is much more about being the bridge between the medical world and the people building the technology. You might spend your day helping a product team understand how a specific patient pathway actually works in a hospital, or advising a marketing team on how to speak to other doctors authentically.

It is a great fit if you enjoy problem solving and want to see your clinical knowledge applied to a project that could help thousands of patients at once. Okay. Being the medical voice in a creative team sound like a better fit for you than the rigid structure of clinical safety. Uh, yeah, sure. I think I like the sound of that. Like what, what do, how do I get there? What do we need to do? And how soon can I. It is great that the clinical advisor role resonates with you, especially since it values your direct experience as a registrar.

To get started, you do not need a new degree, but you should begin by updating your CV to highlight your transferable skills like clinical leadership and how you have improved patient pathways. You can start looking for these roles on platforms like Offscript immediately, as many startups value the current practical perspective you bring right now. Since you are close to your CCT, does the idea of finishing your training while exploring these rules part-time feel like a manageable next step for you?

Based on what we have discussed, here are three career directions that I think fit your background and your desire for a hands-on but less rigid environment.

One, clinical advisor in health-tech. This fits because you enjoy being the medical voice in a creative team and want to see your knowledge applied at scale without the heavy clinical workload. A great first step is to update your CV to highlight any time you have improved a clinical pathway or worked with new technology in your trust. Two, Medical Science Liaison in Pharma. This role allows you to stay deep in the science and talk to other experts, which leverages your clinical credibility while getting you out of the hospital setting.

You could start by researching pharmaceutical companies that focus on your specific clinical specialty. Three, aesthetics clinician. Since you mentioned the aesthetics course, this is a great way to keep using your hands-on skills in a private, more controlled setting. A good first step here is to attend a taster day or a foundation course to see if the day-to-day work truly appeals to you. But the fact that it was a conversation and forced to be in that space kind of meant it more like a call. a book time to sit down or talk to somebody and actually figure this out. And I had to clear the space to do it. So I think. interesting decision from the part of the developers and, you know, Amz Abdul you guys like interesting choice to do it this way. I've ended, I started off saying oh I don't like this as much but I ended up saying thinking that it's really good and the fact that I understood the conversation was coming to an end and automatically ended the conversations and I didn't choose it was very cool.

Um, as wondering if it would function like an agent or an assistant and use the off-strip platform to bring stuff to me. And I did that. I was not expecting at all. So this is very, very cool. Okay. It currently doesn't have my CV. Maybe a bit more context when I would give it my cv, but here's what it says. Frustrated, registrar, nearing CCD, burnt out by heavy workload, exploring options that leverage hands-on skills and clinical knowledge. Don't want to start from scratch. Interested in advisor role in health tech and valuing opportunity.

Cool. what drives me, what my core values are, transferable skills really nicely extracted. And like this was an example scenario, like if you give it more context and more specific. things that I'm sure can do a better job. Okay, so here's the recommended career directions it's given me. A health tech and digital health clinical advisor, why it fits you, a day in the life, skills I have, skill to build, medical liaison. No, I don't want this one and I go on the aesthetics one. So it has then given jobs that are matching.

Senior customer safety investigator with EasyJet Holidays. That's interesting. Why would Easyjet be hiring Doctors. Huh. Craft Field Analyst Program, Healthcare Strategy and Operations, AI ML Engineer for AI for Science, Ops Manager. So now as I'm looking at these roles, I feel quite overwhelmed. I am like, how could I apply for these rules? And I wonder if I can go back and have a chat with it about any of these specific jobs. Or if You know, if I click on this one, let's see where it takes me.

It's going to take me to the job board. And then I can create a tailored CV. Okay. So hopefully the CV tailoring process will, If you've seen my previous video, the CB tailing process does highlight all of the shortcomings and everything that you need to work on. Um, so realistically it probably, it wouldn't be like an overnight fix. I'd probably figure out what all I need do and go and get those things on my CV somehow. The challenge with online careers is that that list of things missing ends up being so long that you kind of end up giving up on it and it gets really frustrating.

But sometimes it's not, sometimes, it is just one or two things or sometimes as a matter of doing a fellowship for a year, you still get paid, still in the NHS. In that fellowship, we fill all these elements and then you go and do the other thing. So there's many different ways to do this. Yeah, I really enjoy this, the career clarity section.
