Full Transcript Introduction: Trusting Science Critically 0:00 You do not have to choose between trusting medicine and being a critical thinker. 0:05 In fact, genuine trust in any system requires that you understand it well enough to evaluate it honestly. 0:13 That means reading primary sources. 0:15 It means asking your doctor what the actual studies say. 0:18 It means forcing your doctor to actually look at the studies. 0:21 In science, dismissal without engagement is a red flag, not a sign of confidence. 0:27 When a doctor or an institution says the science is settled, the correct response is curiosity, and not compliance. 0:35 Ask which science? 0:36 Ask who funded it? 0:38 As what the dissenting studies show? 0:39 That's not disrespect. 0:41 That is exactly what science designed to welcome. 0:44 Welcome to the resiliency method, the truth about healing. 0:47 I'm Dr. 0:48 Erica and we are here to uncover the root causes keeping you stuck. 0:52 Together we'll restore your energy, your focus and your resiliency so you can finally heal, regenerate and feel truly alive again. 1:05 My name is Dr. 1:06 Erica, and today we're going to talk about something that recently made news and something, that in my view, deserves a lot more careful attention than 1:15 the news cycle typically allows for. 1:17 Now, in June of 2025, the U.S. 1:19 Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. 1:22 Kennedy Jr., announced a formal federal ban on a preservative called Thermarisol in all U S vaccines. 1:30 And almost immediately that announcement was sorted into camps. 1:34 Some people cheered, some people rolled their eyes, and some dismissed it as a political theater.
RFK Jr. and the Thimerosal Ban 1:41 And very few people in all that noise actually stopped to ask, well, what does the science say? 1:47 Not what your favorite news commentators say, but what the actual documented science says. 1:54 That's what we're going to look at today. 1:56 So let's just name something directly because I think it helps to just get it out in the open. 2:02 Robert F. 2:02 Kennedy Jr. 2:03 is one of the most polarizing figures in American public life right now. 2:07 Depending on who you talk to, he's either a courageous health freedom advocate or he is a dangerous anti-science conspiracy theorist. 2:16 And here's what I want to gently point out about that. 2:19 Both of those descriptions are political assessments. 2:23 Neither of them is an actual scientific one. 2:26 The question of whether the marisol is safe is not answered by what you think of the person who banned it. 2:32 And I think most of us, if we can slow down for a moment, can actually recognize that. 2:37 We've all seen a movement in our own lives where we agreed with someone we disliked or doubted, someone that we admired. 2:44 That experience, that ability to separate the message from the messenger is actually one of most important cognitive skills a person can develop. 2:54 So here's what I'd like to suggest, and you might find this easier than you expect. 2:59 Let's set Robert Kennedy aside for the next few minutes, not because his announcement doesn't matter, because it really does, 3:06 but because the evidence he cited when making that announcement existed long before he arrived in government. 3:15 It was documented by the FDA, by The National Academy of Sciences, the National Toxicology Program, and by CDC's own researchers by peer-reviewed journals. 3:27 Kennedy did not create this data. 3:29 He acted on it. 3:30 And the question worth asking is, why did it take this long? 3:34 That's not a political question, that's a scientific and institutional one, and it deserves a serious answer. 3:42 We've heard the phrase a lot over the past several years, trust the science. 3:48 And I genuinely believe in science, I believe the scientific method. 3:53 I belief in peer review and reproducibility and the slow accumulation of evidence that moves human understanding forward. 4:01 And these things are not things I want to undermine.
Why the Evidence Matters 4:05 But I think there's a version of trustless science that has quietly shifted from being a call to examine evidence into being signal to stop asking questions. 4:16 And those are NOT the same thing. 4:18 In fact, they're the opposites. 4:20 Real science is never really finished and real science has never settled by a press release or a government statement. 4:26 Real Science invites challenge, it welcomes replication, and it's always open to revision in the light of new evidence. 4:34 And that is not weakness. 4:36 That's the entire point. 4:38 So when someone tells you the science settled on a topic, any topic The most scientifically literate response is to ask, 4:46 settled according to which studies, funded by whom, reviewed by which bodies, and what do the studies on the other side say? 4:55 That's not being anti-science. 4:58 That science applied correctly. 5:01 Now, let me give you a specific example of why this matters in the context of today's topic. 5:08 In 2001, the director of the FDA's own Office of Vaccine Research and Review testified before Congress and acknowledged that the safety of thimerosal had 5:18 never been formally studied in human beings. 5:21 This is not a fringe claim, this is a sworn congressional testimony from the FDA official. 5:27 And yet, their Marisol has been used in vaccines for roughly 70 years at that point. 5:33 70 Years of use without a formal human safety study. 5:38 Now pause on that for a moment. 5:41 Because if a pharmaceutical company introduced a new drug today and we found out it had never been tested for safety and humans. 5:53 we would all immediately understand why that was a problem. 5:57 We would demand answers. 5:59 That same standard of scrutiny though, the one that we apply to a new drug is exactly the standard worth applying here. 6:07 Trusting the science means applying that standard consistently. 6:11 not selectively. 6:13 So let's look at what the evidence actually shows. 6:16 And I want to walk through this slowly because it builds on itself in a way that I think is genuinely important. 6:23 The Marisol is an organo-mercury preservative. 6:28 It has been used in vaccines since the 1930s, primarily to prevent bacterial contamination in bottles that were open and used multiple times. 6:38 Its active ingredient is a form of mercury called ethylmercury. 6:43 Now here's where it gets important. 6:45 Mercury is well-established neurotoxin. 6:48 The debate has never really been about whether mercury is harmful. 6:52 It's acknowledged as harmful at virtually every level of the scientific and regulatory world. The debate is about how much and in what form and through
Thimerosal History and Infant Exposure 7:03 what pathway. 7:03 Are you tied to treatments, protocols, and gurus who promise results but don't deliver? 7:08 You're not alone. 7:09 For years, I struggled with my own long-term illness and I know how frustrating it feels when nothing seems to work. 7:16 That's why I developed the resiliency method. 7:18 It's a science-backed approach to combine the best of Western and ancient medicines to restore your body's natural intelligence. 7:25 Patient after patient has discovered what's possible, living stronger, brighter, and more spiritually connected than ever before. 7:33 Whether you're facing autoimmune issues, hormonal imbalances, weight struggles, or just feeling stuck, you don't need another quick fix. 7:40 You need a clear path forward. 7:42 Take the first step with a discovery call at drericaonline.com forward slash discovery. 7:48 That's D-R-E- R-I-K-A online. 7:52 com forward. 7:53 So discovery or dive deeper with the full initial consultation at Dr. 7:58 Erica online dot com board slash initial dash consultation, because your health, your clarity and your freedom cannot wait. 8:22 Now, by 1999, the FDA conducted a calculation that found infants following the standard vaccine schedule could be receiving more than 187 micrograms of 8:35 ethylmercury in the first six months of life. 8:38 Now that was through multiple vaccines, not just flu shots, pertussis vaccines hepatitis B vaccines. 8:45 All of these contain thimerosal and were all given the same time. 8:49 compressed in the infant schedule. 8:51 That calculation was alarming enough that in July of 1999, the CDC, The American Academy of Pediatrics, and the U.S. 8:59 Public Health Service issued a joint statement asking manufacturers to please remove the themarisol from the childhood vaccines as quickly as possible. 9:08 manufacturing of thimerosal-containing childhood vaccines stopped, and by 2003, the last of those vaccine stocks had expired or were gone. 9:19 But flu vaccines and multi-dose vials were allowed to continue containing thimerasal for more than 20 additional years. 9:27 That exemption, which lasted until the 2025 ban, is itself worth examining. 9:32 I will also mention that Thimerosal is still an active ingredient in most of your pets' vaccines as well. 9:40 So if this is something that's on your radar, you need to also be talking to your veterinarian and looking at the actual ingredients in the boxes. 9:48 As of yesterday, I was in a veterinary's office and read the label and Thimerasal was the rabies vaccine that they're using today. 9:58 So here's something that may change how you think about the question of whether this mercury is even still relevant to your health. 10:08 A 2005 study commissioned by the FDA and performed by The National Toxicology Program found that ethylmercury from thimerosal crosses the blood brain barrier 10:18 and converts inside the brain into its most toxic form, inorganic mercury, at double the rate of the mercury we worry about in fish.
Mercury, the Brain, and Development 10:27 And a follow-up study found that this inorganic mercury can remain sequestered in the brain tissue for more than 27 years. 10:34 27 Years! 10:35 That's not a short-term concern, that's a lifetime concern. 10:39 Now let me tell you something about how mercury reaches the Brain that most people and most of the people in public don't discussion skip over entirely 10:47 because it's anatomically fascinated and clinically crucial. 10:51 Most of your brain is protected by something called the blood-brain barrier, a remarkably sophisticated seal between your bloodstream and your bone tissue. 11:01 But there's also a region of the brain where this barrier has a permanent gap, and it's called Nucleus Tractus Solitarius, 11:09 or NTS. 11:10 And this region needs direct blood access because it monitors everything in your circulation in real time. 11:17 It helps regulate your digestion, your heart rate, you're breathing, and your hormone balance. 11:22 It's one of the most important regulatory centers in your body. 11:26 Now, because its barrier never fully closes, any toxin in you bloodstream, including mercury, has direct unimpeded access to those neurons for as long 11:37 as it circulates. 11:38 And this is not speculation. 11:40 This is documented neuroanatomy. 11:43 And it means that the idea of a substance being blocked by the blood-brain barrier, and it's only really partially true for every human being who has ever lived. 11:53 For babies and young children, the situation is even more significant. 11:56 The blood brain barrier is not fully formed at birth. 12:00 It develops over the first several years of life. 12:03 And during that window, that entire brain is more permeable and far more vulnerable than an adult brain. 12:10 And that is precisely the window in which the most concentrated the Marisol exposure was taking place. 12:16 Now there's one more layer to this that I want to share because it's the part that tends to land differently, especially for parents. 12:25 Mercury and lead both cross the placenta during pregnancy. 12:29 A woman who carries a mercury or lead burden in her body from her own childhood exposures, from vaccines, dental fillings, 12:38 diet, can transfer a portion of that stored burden to her developing baby before it's ever born. 12:45 Now think about what that means. 12:47 A child born today might be carrying a heavy metal burden that originated in their mother's childhood in an environment or a medical system that existed 20, 30, 50 12:59 years ago. 13:00 Their own exposure history begins before their first breath, and it may continue to shape their nervous system development, 13:06 their digestive health, they're mood, the cognitive function, immune system function in ways that standard medical testing would never catch. 13:14 Because standard blood tests don't reflect what's stored in the tissues. 13:19 This is not intended to frighten you, I just want to be very clear about that. 13:23 The reason to understand this is, not so that you can feel helpless, it's so you that can ask better questions. 13:29 because the body also has real remarkable systems for processing and clearing heavy metals. 13:36 Systems that could be supported and strengthened with the right guidance. 13:40 Now understanding this problem is the beginning of finding the path through it. 13:45 So I think it leaves us with a few things worth sitting with. 13:48 The first is this, the 2025 federal plan on the Marisol is a significant policy milestone, regardless of how you feel about the person who announced it, 13:59 it reflects a decades long accumulation of scientific and regulatory concern that was always present in the literature, always acknowledged in new internal
What the Ban Means for Health 14:11 government documents and somehow never quite translated into protective action until now. 14:17 That is worth acknowledging without a political filter. 14:20 The second is that removing some Marisol from future vaccines does not address the burden that may already exist in the bodies of millions of people who 14:30 are vaccinated before 2003 or who received flu shots in years since or had babies and were vaccinated with mercury and thimerosal-containing vaccines. 14:42 So that means pretty much the majority of our entire population. 14:46 Mercury stored in tissues does not leave the body simply because its source has been removed. 14:52 For anyone experiencing unexplained neurological symptoms, gut dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, immune system dysfunction developmental concerns, 15:03 heavy metal burden, deserves to be part of the clinical conversation. 15:08 And the third is something about how we engage with health information going forward. 15:13 This may be the most important point of all. 15:17 You do not have to choose between trusting medicine and being a critical thinker. 15:22 In fact, genuine trust in any system requires that you understand it well enough to evaluate it honestly. 15:30 That means reading primary sources when you can. 15:32 It means asking your doctor what the actual studies say. 15:36 It means forcing your doctor to actually look at the studies. 15:40 Uh, it's not just what guidelines say, It's noticing when a topic gets dismissed rather than debated. 15:46 Because in science, dismissal without engagement is a red flag, not a sign of confidence. 15:52 When a doctor or an institution says the science is settled, the correct response is curiosity, not compliance. 16:00 Ask which science, ask who funded it, and ask what the dissenting studies show. 16:05 That's not disrespect, that's exactly what science designed to welcome. 16:10 And when a politician announces something, whether it's someone you support or someone, you can't stand, ask the same question. 16:21 What does the underlying evidence actually show? 16:24 Because the evidence on the Marisol was always there. 16:28 It was in federal archives and congressional testimony and peer-reviewed journals in the safety data sheets that came with the product itself. 16:37 It wasn't hidden, it was simply not being amplified. 16:41 Until now. 16:43 Thank you for joining me for this important conversation today, and I just want to close with something that I think really matters more than any single 16:52 fact in today's episode. 16:54 We are living in a time when it can feel like every health topic has been claimed by one political tribe or another. 17:02 Vaccines are not political. 17:03 Nutrition is not. 17:05 Political even how we talk about the body has become political and that is genuinely exhausting. 17:14 It makes people defensive.
Detox, Resiliency, and Next Steps 17:17 It makes nuance almost impossible. 17:20 It make people who ask reasonable questions feel like they have to pick a side before they even understood the issue. 17:28 But here's what I know to be true. 17:30 Your body is not political. 17:31 You're child's nervous system is no political The question of what mercury does to developing brain tissue is not a matter of ideology. 17:39 It's a manner of biology and biology does not care which party you vote for. 17:44 So give yourself permission to think about this outside of whatever camp you've been placed in. 17:50 Give yourself permission to sit with information that feels uncomfortable, to ask questions that feel risky, and to arrive at conclusions that are genuinely 18:02 your own. 18:02 Not your team's conclusion, not your tribe's, yours and yours alone. 18:09 That kind of thinking is rare right now and it's also exactly what good health and good science has always required. 18:16 So if what you've heard today has landed with any weight, and I believe it has, because the truth of it is hard to ignore, 18:23 then the next question is the most important one. 18:27 What do you actually do about it? 18:30 Now, not all detoxification approaches are created equal and this is where I need to be quite direct with you. 18:37 Most detox protocols that are available today, whether that's a supplement stack, a juice cleanse, or even a basic chelation program, 18:45 they're all working at the surface level. 18:48 They are a beginning and that beginning matters. 18:50 But mercury stored from early life exposures is not sitting at the surface. 18:55 It's encapsulated deep in the tissues, lodged in a nervous system, in brain, sequestered in places that a superficial protocol was never designed to reach. 19:04 Pulling at that depth before the body is ready does not create healing. 19:09 it creates redistribution and redistribution can make symptoms worse. 19:14 Now this is precisely why the resiliency method exists. 19:18 And why it stands alone as the only system designed for full-body detoxification at this level. 19:24 Rather than simply throwing the body into a detox process it hasn't earned the capacity to complete, the resiliency method works systematically to organize 19:34 the bodies own healing architecture first. 19:37 restoring the biological pathways, the cellular resilience, and the regulatory function that allow a deep detoxification to actually happen safely, 19:47 effectively, in the right sequence. 19:49 The body has to earn the rights to go deeper, guys. 19:51 You can't do this overnight. 19:53 Our process is how it does that. 19:54 If you're ready to stop managing symptoms and start addressing what is actually underneath them, The resiliency method is where that work begins. 20:02 You deserve that and so do the people you love. 20:05 Thank you for listening. 20:06 Take care of yourself and I'll see you next time. 20:09 Thanks for tuning into The Resiliency Method, the truth about healing podcast. 20:14 If this episode spoke to you, follow, share and leave us a review. 20:18 Are you ready to go deeper? 20:19 Book your discovery called now at drericaonline.com forward slash discovery and take your first step today.
