Annalice Argyle has been in recovery for 16 years. She has run a women’s recovery charity for 11. And every year she co-hosts a women-only wellness gathering in a field in North Yorkshire — with a stone circle, a sunset ceremony, drumming circles and a gong — that women describe as life-changing.
In this conversation with Dr. Debs Eastwood, Annalice talks about what it took to get here: a first drink at 14 that felt like coming home, years of addiction, losing her voice in a room full of people who were supposed to help her, and the long road back through recovery, purpose and community. They also explore why the system fails women with addictions, why trapped emotions show up as physical illness, and why real community — the kind where everyone brings their strength and nobody has to compete — might be the most powerful medicine of all.
This is a conversation about survival, sisterhood and what it means to stop chasing and start living.
