Welcome back to the conversation. Today, I have a special guest, Dr. Joseph Antoun. Thank you for being here.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Hi Laura. I hope we will be able to cover some solutions that will change some people’s lives.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
I think we will. I want our audience to know who you are. You have a very big passion in your life to enhance human, health and longevity. I think everyone around here who is watching wants healthy longevity. You are the CEO and the Chairman of the Board of L-Nutra, which is a nutrition technology company, that leads the food as medicine movement. Your company develops breakthrough L-Nutra technologies that impact how we age and prevent or better manage our health conditions. Your company discovered a fasting-mimicking diet program called Prolon. We will be talking about that a bit today as well. We are going to be talking about the importance of fasting and how this will help people achieve the health goals that they are here wanting to learn the solutions for at this summit. As we get going here, I think it is important to talk about the types of fasting because not all fasting is created equal, and there is a lot of confusion around it. then, from there, that will be a launching pad for all the other things we can talk about today.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Well, I appreciate it, Laura. Indeed. I started my life in my professional life in medicine and all that I care about is helping people find a cure. I think today doctors are battling chronic conditions with no cure rate; we just see a bunch of pills, but not a lot of cure rate. This is why I left medicine and started a career looking for how I could help humanity stay healthy for an excess of 10 or 15 years of life and reach cures. I have done 11 years of studies, and I have only had one hour of nutrition. I am talking about Harvard, Hopkins, and all the big universities. Then a few things changed my life, one of which steered me toward nutrition and fasting. One of them learning that at the end of the day, nutrition, or food, is the only product we put in our bodies every day of our lives. Three to five times per day. Every day, one product. How powerful is it if we put the right science behind it and try to uncover what we should eat? Then what I learned after that is when we should eat and what we should not eat. It seems it is not just about the composition of the food but it’s about the timing. That is what we’re going to focus on today, the timing of the food.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
I think this is important because people get caught up in the idea that if I just eat the right foods the way they are grown with minimal processing from the earth to my plate, then this should solve the problem, and what you just said here is so important: timing matters. Carry on. I just wanted to point that out because it is critical that you not necessarily eat your way to health if you are eating it or if you are not paying attention to when you are eating.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Yes, we used to say, you are what you eat, and then we say, you are when you eat. It was a big article, I think, in the New York Times a few weeks ago. You are when you eat. It is what and when. What you eat is very critical as well. But so this is what I am going to summarize today: the new information we are going to bring to that is that you want to read a little bit more detail about it. I recommend that you buy the book called The Longevity Diet by Valter Longo. A lot of what we are going to talk about today about what to eat and when to eat is summarized in Valter Longo. If you ask Chat GPT, the number one fasting expert in the world, and the number one longevity nutrition expert in the world is the head of the Longevity Institute at USC.
I lead the company that was founded by him based on all his science and his trials. This is important because it was, 23 years ago. He is the founder of the Longevity Institute at USC and has partnered with 18 other universities: Stanford is one of the World, the University of Genoa, Berlin in Charité, Indiana University, and the University of Miami. Many universities in the U.S. have brought and they together decided to study; when we should eat as humans to hopefully gain another ten or 20 years of our lives. What should we eat? The first discovery was how important fasting is to our body. To the aging of our body. That is the longevity-fasting angle. But also there is medical fasting, meaning, and this is what is relevant here to this summit: how can we use fasting as part of the disease, or remission of the chronic disease, we are going to talk about both.
I start by saying, Well, first of all, we as humans on this planet, hundreds of thousands of years ago, were fasting more than eating, by the way, because people were like, Every period we have a theory. One day is ketogenic, one day is eating proteins, and one day is plant-based, and they might be right about a lot of that. But fasting has been part of our diet for the longest, except for the last 40 or 50 years. We started eating all the time, and we were eating unhealthy, but we started eating all the time. I still remember that in the 90s they came up with the theory that you should eat six times a day, if you remember that.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
That was the worst, and yes, like you feed a metabolism, that is what I remember. I was trying, but my body revolted against that. I can remember trying in the 90s. I was in my 20s. I am fresh, I am out of college, and I want to stay fit. I was trying to feed my metabolism, but my body revolted against that and did not want to do it.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
We have the biggest clinical trials on this, with billions of people around the world eating all the time, diabetes increasing, cancer increasing, and death. By the way, we were spending over $3 trillion in the US per year on health care, and we just lost another half a year of our longevity in the US. It is just ridiculous because we are not treating the root causes, and one of the main root causes is food and lifestyle. One of the ways to prevent or reverse the impact of overeating or eating all the time is fasting. This is not an artificial discovery. Just recently, science proved the value of fasting. It was always part of being human. The human part is to be part of it. But we did not have a scientific breakthrough two decades ago that we now bring to the market. This is to answer the question of what the types of fasting are. Intermittent fasting is what people are familiar with. A lot of people skip breakfast during the 16-hour fast, and we are going to talk about the benefits of that.
But just to help everyone here in organizing thoughts around fasting, intermittent fasting is anytime between zero and two days, 0 hours to two days. It takes up to 48 hours. We called intermittent fasting. Anything after 48 hours. If you still have not, you call it prolonged fasting. Why the division? Because I always compare fasting to a company with no revenues. Initially, even if you do not have revenues, you have enough in the bank to borrow. First, you go to your checking accounts, and the money goes to glycogen. Glycogen is the easy reserve in the body. Then, if you are the CEO of the company, you do not have enough funds. You are going to tap now into your savings accounts, and that is the fat in the body. Then, as you go longer, you can ask for credit or a loan. This is where the body tells the liver, Help me with, this is what is called neoglucogenesis, is how we add a little bit more calories into the blood.
In the first two days, you have to have three layers of defense glycogen, fat, and then liver. That is enough to compensate. Again, in the first couple of days, people have different BMIs which is great for someone sooner or later, but batting about averages is glucogenesis. Intermittent fasting for up to two days is very important for losing weight because 73% of us are a little bit overweight and have a lot of multiple diseases like diabetes, hypertension, predisposition to cancer, and predisposition to Alzheimer’s—we call it Alzheimer’s type 3 diabetes now. There is a lot of acceleration of aging in overweight people, which is way beyond what we think. You gain weight with carbs, pushing insulin, which is an aging factor. But this push for IGF is another aging factor. The more you are eating, the more you are accumulating fat, and the more you are not just going towards metabolic disease; you are accelerating the aging and you are going to have other diseases as well.
Intermittent fasting is great in that sense. Even the silent killers, there are a lot of foundational ways in which the body deals with these kinds of food. If you have a chronic infection in the sinuses, and at the same time you are not supporting it with metabolism, you are not going to be able to deal with it, etc. But when you cross two days, so now go back to the CEO of the company; you do not have funds; you have depleted everything in the bank. What are you going to do? You are going to either restructure the company, or you are going to try to fix it.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
You are going to borrow? Maybe you are going to borrow from somebody.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Borrow is the liver. That you have borrowed already. You want to check the checking savings, and you did borrow, and that is the liver, so that is.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Not an option.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
All that is left with your options. Now, you are going to have to say, Well, I went through a crisis. Many enterprises are going to restructure the company. They are going to say, I think I do not have revenues because I am still doing a good job in marketing or operations. You are going to start fixing it. First, functionally. You cut unnecessary stuff. We will call that autophagy in the body. On day three, the body tells the cells, I cannot feed you any longer. You are going to go and look inside the grease organelles and leftovers; try to consume those detox. Going back now to toxins in the body, fasting is one of the best ways to deal with them. Just another thought: since the mitochondria are activated, the lysosomes and the body are trying to. Every cell is trying to operate as fast. This is what happens after day three and four days of fasting. You start doing what we call autophagy, or cellular rejuvenation. This process won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2016. It is very well-established and critical to rejuvenate the body’s cells.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Let us talk about this for a second. Autophagy, there are a couple of different ways people see this. For purposes of this conversation, we mean the same thing. We have practitioners here. We have consumers of health care here. Potato, potato. Let us talk about what happens there, because it is not just any cells that the body rids; it is cells that are not serving you anymore. The process of removing this, the cellular debris in the cells, the old mitochondria, and the things that are no longer serving is good. It is like cleaning the house.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Yes. We did not get to get rid of the cells. We are still talking in every cell. Again, for every cell saying, Let me get rid of the debris, the organelles, let me consume that. The reason is to use them as calories. It let me use the organisms right. It is like you have a train that works on wood, and now there is no wood. You go, and you chop the branches, and you use that to feed the fire to keep a train going.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Yes.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
This is what the body does. Every cell is trying to clean, detox, and operate; integrate it so you can.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Even though you have not even started to clear out the malfunctioning old.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
We will get to those.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Okay. Now we are just cleaning debris.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Exactly. If you are the CEO of that company, you just said, I am fighting a crisis. But given my budget for travel, let me put a little bit less money into something that I do not necessarily need. Let me use the funds that we have allocated. You take this small functional cut, and now you go longer in crisis, touching by five and six. If you are the CEO of that company and you cut what you can, you are going to start cutting people, unfortunately and trying to let some people go and do more drastic structural interventions to save the company. You typically will say, Look, if I have people that I paid a lot of money to and they do not produce maybe much or that is brilliant, but I do not need them at this time or the opposite. You try to look into structural changes. The body looks at the cells and says, Okay, I am giving this cell two days to do other phases and rejuvenation, but still, it is a dysfunctional cell or it does not perform just eating calories, but it is not performing. Let me just get rid of it and send it to apoptosis. This is when you go from rejuvenation and autophagy to regeneration because you are killing and bringing in the newer stem cells, which operate very cost-effectively. Their younger self, the stem cells, and how many.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
How many days are you fasting to achieve this?
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Again, every human is different depending on metabolic rate and BMI, but on average, we are talking about touching on day five onwards.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Day five, like this, is no joke. This is a serious fast.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
It is so when a CEO has to fire people, there is no joke. It is a serious crisis. It is exactly. I am stressing this because a lot of people, a lot of booksellers and publishers, are like Intermittent fasting, fasting skip breakfast. You will have autophagy. You have other things you have. It is like going to a multimillion-dollar company and telling them, I will give you your check, four hours later. They are going to restructure the entire company because they are getting tired. It is not going to happen.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
It is so, so myth-busting. You are busting a big myth now. People think that they are going to get the benefit of dusting and cleaning out the cobwebs of the body with intermittent fasting for 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 hours fast.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
There is no way to measure it and now recently, the National Health Department deployed eight machines in eight universities across the US to measure autophagy in humans. When you go and do it, there is no autophagy; it is in the first six days. It is very simple what I explain to you, and I use the analogy because it makes sense. It just means firstly some reserve when you completely reverse it, and it is a little bit different stress; you rejuvenate the cells, and when you are under much deeper, longer stress, they are going to get rid of some of the cells and keep the others and replace them. It makes sense. Everything is natural selection, even human behavior and running companies or running anything. You follow the same trend. You are not going to do autophagy if half of us do not have breakfast by nature. Waking up in the morning and going to work. We do not see the crisis and rejuvenation. We felt fatigued to see them, and they had to take an afternoon. That is a big myth-buster atrocity that in just the last seven years, a lot of people rode waves and they wanted to write the wave of autophagy. Autophagy happens mainly in humans after day three. Keep that in mind.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Okay.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Once we discovered that again 15 years ago, we were like, Let us try to do several days of fasting in mice to see what happens, and then go to human trials. In mice, after several days of fasting, they were again rejuvenating the mice, and it had a pretty big impact, not just on their healthy longevity but also on reversing chronic diseases. We were mice, and we were regressing them from diabetes, from multiple cancers, and from improving cognition with Alzheimer’s. We are very excited. Again, the founder, Valter Longo with the universities, said, Let us go with water fasting for humans and how they reverse chronic diseases, including the silent killers that you and I talked about in the summit. The problem is that nobody can fast for five days and go to the CEO of a company and say, Hey, can you experiment with us? We want to take you close to bankruptcy and see what happens. Nobody wants to do that.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
No.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
It was difficult to do the clinical trials. This is where the National Institute of Health, which is the biggest funder of clinical trials in the US, stepped in to help us, and they put tens of millions of dollars into the research to develop fasting-mimicking nutrition. Meaning, that you nourish people over five days, a type of very precision-formulation nutrition that keeps the body, although it is nourished in a fasting mode. This is why it is called the fasting-mimicking diet. The brand name is Prolon. A lot of people know that brand name. Because it has been over a million served since they have been in the US.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Yes. In the 5 minutes that we have left here in this first part of our talk, I want to talk more about that fasting-mimicking diet because of full disclosure. I am too much of a wimp to do a five-day fast like I cannot get past 24 hours. There are a lot of things I do and a lot of things that I am way better at than most people. Great self-control. But fasting has been a tough one for me. Tell us more.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
That is why it is growing and this is why fasting nutrition exists.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
You can do this without the pain of feeling like you are going to die from trying.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Yes. Going back to the analogy that we talked about, imagine you have a company. Instead of selling, you have zero revenues, and you are going through a lot of stress. People will leave the company. You cannot order your supplies for next month. If I come and say, You need a million dollars? We will give you $500,000. But let us put it. Let us earmark the positive stuff. Tell HR so you keep your best employees. Organize the supply that, you can sell next month, and we are going to keep the pressure on other parts of the business to fix them. That is exactly what fasting nutrition is: a formulation, a precision formulation.
Again, it is now over $48 million of research, 18 universities, and two decades of work to get to it. This is not when people receive Prolon; they open it. We made it very user-friendly like you have the soups, you have your bars, you have your drinks, and you have yourself. We made it user-friendly, but it is a very precise formulation, that I will help you understand why it would expand your hours. We start studying how the body recognizes food. When you eat proteins, when you eat carbs, insulin increases, and when you eat proteins, IGF increases. These are two molecules that send signals to the body that there is food that is carbs and protein. Therefore, we are not fasting.
One of our secrets is that we do not spike insulin or IGF. The nutrients are coming into the blood, but they are not over-projecting insulin, than the IGF. The second secret of our formulation is, that we start studying the radars on the cell that detects food. We call them the TGA, the ROS, and the True pathway. We started looking at formulations that go around the pathways, or if they go through those pathways, they are not convincing the cell that it is fully satisfied. This cell, like what I am hesitating, I think can still be in protective mode, and I am still going to try to repeat it. These are the two secrets behind the formulation I am simplifying. It is that phase; the source of the ingredients is all clean-based, clean nutrition, and healthy nutrition. There are no chemicals and no added preservation. This is a very healthy plant-based nutrition, and we study it to mimic fasting.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Yes, this is blowing my mind because I worked for one of the largest HMOs in America for 21 years before I retired from that and went fully into functional medicine. I can remember these healthy eating plans of shakes and foods that tasted terrible; they were full of chemicals, and they were not helping people. When they stopped using it, they rebounded back to their old symptoms and felt lousy. Chances are they were not in any kind of healthy state while they were doing this. For those of you watching who are having post-traumatic stress about, oh, I do not ever want to do something like that again, this is not what that is. This is something entirely different. Dr. Antoun, this first part of our talk has been extraordinary, and I am going to pause just for one moment because we’re going to keep going. But for those of our audience that are going to leave us now, I want to make sure that they understand they can get access to Prolon Fasting products. There is a clickable link on this page that says Prolon, and they can click that to get access, and you can use the coupon code. Laura20 for a very generous 20% off. Can you also share with our audience that if they are, if they forget to do that, they are not on this page, they can just go to your website? What is that website?
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
You can go to prolonlife.com and insert the code LAURA20. It will give you the 20% discount that we are specifically doing for you today by listening to this summit.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Excellent. Dr. Antoun, I want to thank you so much for joining us today for this talk on fasting.

If you are not, click on the button on this page to get access to a continuation of this conversation and many others, and get the tools you need to reclaim your health. If you are watching this continuation of my talk with Dr. Antoun, thank you for being a valuable member of our community. We are going to dive right back in.
We were talking about true fasting as a method to reclaim your health. You just explained to us that the way Prolon is formulated is very specific. You do not have spikes in sugar or protein so that your body feels like it is fasting. This is fascinating to me. Because it means you can continue to receive nutrition. You probably do not have to have that feeling of being, I am starving because you are getting food, which means many more people can reach a fasting state. I think the big failure of fasting is that it is just hard to do because you feel awful in those first 48 hours. But if you can get past the 48 hours, I am told, I have not experienced it myself, but I am told that it is a very special feeling once you get past that 48 hours.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Be as much. This exactly proves what I was telling you. Self-resignation after two days. That is exactly what happens. The ketones in the body just switch to ketones, and then it is even euphoric. People will tell you, it is, I feel so happy and so great once they cross day two and day three. You are right. It is the first two days that are difficult. Again if the company does not have revenue, it is in very difficult times. But then once you start reforming and regenerating and rejuvenating and regenerating, this is what you feel like. You are at your best because you are reforming or restructuring the company. Now it is a great, effective performer. The body is the same; the body has detoxed; the body has rejuvenated immunity. The body has perfected muscle. It is what happens when we are going to talk about muscle. It is key in this journey.
If the body has a leaky gut, it is decreasing because now the gut is healing. All the inflammatory status is decreasing. Every cell of your body is rejuvenating. This is the best shape you could be in post-fasting. People describe it, as you said it exactly. It takes me two seconds when somebody says, Prolon. If they said that, they did not continue, especially since I know they did not do it in full. If everyone prolongs aging, they are raving about the emotional experience and the mood and the performance and the exercise that they had, they had hip pain and now they do not feel about it. They had a knee issue, and they had sinusitis that they struggled with forever. They had reflux. They struggle, and then it is changed. You hear all these stories, and this is when you rush on the skin. There is now no longer there. Asking that is very powerful in that sense.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
What is occurring to me is that this is a happy-ending restructuring of the company. This is not a company that ends up falling apart. This is restructuring.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
It gives you nourishing insight. That is the beauty of the pressure. Once they fixed it, you said, guess what? I am going to feed you, and I am going to give you back the funds so that you grow in a much better direction. This is why, for five days, of course, you should not fast for a month and months and months or days and days and weeks and weeks without any medical supervision. Otherwise, like you said, the company is not going to survive. The best thing is that you stress the company. They fix it because they have been growing in a spoiled way, misfiring, misinvesting, and throwing money away. Here you come. You audited. This is a lot.
I would say if you watch any of the car races, the engine is heated once the wheels are torn by the driver because of the pit stop, and the engineers come. They are auditing. They put all their things in. Okay, let us change the oil. Let us fix this tire. Let us do that. That is exactly what fasting is: prolonged fasting, intermittent. Intermittent is when you slow down. The engine relaxes a little bit. It is good. If the engine heats up, then you overuse the body of the car, and if you slow down, it can relieve some of the pressure. That is exactly what intermittent fasting does to weight, some blood pressure markers, and some cholesterol markers. But when you go to the pit stop, you are changing the wheels, you are changing the tires, and then you go back on track, and you are a real, true, cost-effective, rejuvenated car.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Now I am good, intermittent faster. I can go 15, 16, or 17 hours without eating, but I can. I cannot wait to try this. I am going to be the first person to line up after this interview and say, Get me Prolon.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
You will even be happier because we do have so. This is another topic, but it is a critical one. There is 8% of Americans who do a certain type of intermediate skip breakfast, which, by the way, does not show a lot of positive signs of longevity. Because it depends on how you do it.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
Yes.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
If you eat dinner late and stay with no food till the next afternoon, the next day, that is not healthy in terms of fasting because you are feeding right before sleeping. You are in the body when you sleep, which increases growth hormones throughout the night. It is anabolic and around the morning. You are stocking those countries with fat. then during the day when you need calories, when you are essential organs, the brain is going to work in the morning, the heart is pumping when you go to the gym, etc., you are bleeding them with no calories through the afternoon. This is why you start getting headaches and feel fatigued. The right intermittent fasting, we call circadian intermittent fasting. You eat dinner earlier, and you stay overnight, almost a little bit hungry. You are not stocking food. Then you do your breakfast. You get your breakfast at seven, eight, or nine in the 12 hours to 14, and it will happen in the morning. All the longevity trials showed that. Because your brain is most active in the morning. The heart needs to pump faster when you go active, etc.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
You finish eating around three or four in the afternoon instead, and then you are done.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Or six, seven, eight, or six, seven, and then, yes. Because if you do it, you do not need 16 hours; you just need 12 to 14, and that is the best. By the way, the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2017 was on the biological clock of the organs overnight. Once you align food and sleep with biology with every organ sleeping, even if you do, just 12 to 14 hours is very effective. If you go back and talk to centenarians, people living and beyond, and we interview a lot of them, you ever find that the trap is that many of them. People living in the hundred, whatever, do not go without breakfast but they eat early the day before going. That is critical because the last thing you want to do is overload the body once you are going to sleep. A lot of people today, I tried to get fascinating to work for me because you are doing the wrong one. You are starving yourself when the body does not need it, and then it is toxic.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
What occurs to me here is that I work with a lot of people who get stuck in patterns with their health, where they feel like I just cannot get past where I am. I have done all that. I have worked with all these functional specialists. I have tried all these things, and it sounds like I want to dig in. With the time that we have here, I want to talk about the different health conditions, including diabetes. This is going to help, and there are a lot of different conditions. This is going to help. But it occurs to me that this could be a restart and a kind of re-patterning of what is happening in your body. If you do this and feel stuck, this may be a way to get unstuck. The other thing that occurs to me is going back to your business analogy or the restructuring of a company. Once you go through that restructuring and you almost lose everything, it is like do or die. At this point, you have to do something different, or you are going to lose this company. Once you go through that, you are motivated to not go back to your same old patterns and habits. Whatever you are doing from an eating and consuming perspective, you are probably going to come out on the other side of this with the motivation to never go back to what you were doing before.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Yes. The number one benefit was that people do Prolon, and you use exactly the right word. They get stuck in life. It is not just a chronic or silent killer. It is also the mood, the depression, and the performance. A lot of us with aging start feeding those. Prolon mocks that for them when they celebrate rumination. But when you ask them, one of the top benefits they mention is that they said, change my relationship with food. I used to eat big portions before sleep or at night. I used to feel like I needed an extra snack. I used to need big portions. I used to be addicted to Diet Coke, coffee, and wine. When people come out of it, they have a major change in behavior and a much healthier pattern. But with time, you forget and you start going back on, and this is why we always recommend that you do it Prolon if you want to do this for longevity and healthy aging.
Do it three times per year. This is where we studied the 40 to 60% percent of the benefits remaining 3 to 4 months after the five-day box. You do Prolon after 3 to 4 months, you get the second one for 3 to 4 months, you do the third one, and then you have all over asking us to do three fasts per year for 15 days. I will say 65 when it comes to driving it up. They do two pit stops, two or three stops. It is the same pattern of life: our ancestors and the winter coming into the winter and coming out of it. That was a few longer periods of fasting over there. You rejuvenate, and you reset your laptop every few days or a few weeks when it starts becoming slow. It is exactly that. It is a restart and it works.

Let us talk a little bit about the research behind this because this is very evidence-based and very science-driven in all of the kinds of health. In the health world, where things seem kind of on the fringe, Well, I do not know it. Is that biohacking device going to help me? Is there research around this? Fasting is one of the things that we have great data and research on. We know that it is singularly probably the most powerful thing on the planet to increase lifespan. More than a medication, more than any particular food you are going to eat, more than any supplement you are going to take, and more than any exercise routine you are going to do. We have data that proves that fasting improves lifespan.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Yes. I think if you ask the top two longevity experts what is today proven to improve health span, it is very important to live long and healthy and not long and sick. Because what we are doing is worse; we are studying sequences early and we are not living longer, but we are living healthy long, and sick. They will tell you that fasting and calorie restriction are the only proven ways to extend human life today. I know we are talking a lot about metformin, which could have potential, a D-plus, and other molecules that are immense. But all those are being based today on mice trials, and they are starting to do human trials. The only trials and only long-term observational trials that show multiple benefits related to human health to aging are fasting and calorie addiction.
Yes, that is, and by the way, here, maybe this is the time to come in Prolon, by the time this summit airs, we are going to have an article in Nature of Nature and Nature Communications. That is the number one science journal in the world. We have been publishing there multiple articles, but we are going to have a new one showing that if you do Prolon three times per year, between 50 and 70, you are going to, on average, on average, most people will gain 11 years of biological age. Now, you can still die for other reasons, but your cells, your body, and your age will decrease by 11 years if you do it between age 50 and 70, three times per year.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
11 years.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
11 years of biological age. Reversal. It will be published in Nature. Look out for that. This is one Prolon. Prolon today in the US and Europe will be issued patents for promoting longevity. A lot of people say it is the best-kept secret, and maybe it is. But our approach is very scientific. It is not marketing-wise. Many people always ask me about the first time I spoke, and I remember it was fairly large. But number two is that this is a team of M.D.s and PhD.s based on doing true science and bringing credibility to the market. It is how we, when people like you and others will say finally in functional medicine and medicine, when the true lifestyle intervention and nutritech approach but with science and evidence of a drug, which is and zero, we are talking we just started our 32nd clinical trials. Human trials on this fasting-mimicking diet formulation. Probably the most studied in randomized clinical trials of formulation.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
You do not need to know about any foods that have had that many clinical trials. This is remarkable. Now let us talk to our audience about who this is good for. Let us talk about the people who come to me for help. People come to me with low energy, a decrease in concentration, and brain fogginess, a cluster of digestive symptoms. They have bloating, indigestion, heartburn, constipation, diarrhea, or maybe a combination of both. They have anxiety, depression, anger, or mood that kind of shifts like the wind, and their family is getting frustrated with them. They might have joint pain; they might have migraine headaches; they might have skin eruptions. They might start feeling like they are just you. They are itchy, scratchy, and irritated, and they are just, darn it, feeling like middle age is no fun. What is going on here? Now, this group of people may also have autoimmune conditions, either undiagnosed or diagnosed. They may already have pre-diabetes or diabetes. They may already be on a blood pressure medicine or a cholesterol medication, and they may already be talking to their family care doctor about, Hey, we need to keep a close look on your heart because the way things are going here, there is a risk of a heart attack here. Maybe they have already had a scare with cancer. Maybe they are a cancer survivor. Can you help these people?
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Well, I am again, a physician. First, we say, These are many profiles, and each one we have to go into with root cause again. I do not want to be prescriptive on a broad general portfolio or the profiles that you suggested, but you are 100%. It shows that all these symptoms are probably one of the root causes. The more we age, the less we can defend the body against toxins, and the less our immune system is active to go and win chronic battles. Whether it is sinusitis, whether it is the appendix, whether it is other places, the more we are prone to it, the less our cells can rejuvenate and fix themselves. We see it in the face, especially around menopause, where the skin, and the muscles allow the bone density models. These are all symptoms of aging. That is a big bucket. There is the environment; it is a stressor, and there is lifestyle and other things that way. Post, and they all come together. We are eating unhealthy, we are feeding a leaky gut, and then the immune system is less and more confused and then mixes up new molecules with itself and then becomes autoimmune and triggers that, and there is a blood-brain barrier breach, and now we are accelerating Alzheimer’s.
When I went to medical school, we thought everything was separate. This is what you just mentioned. As you said 20 years ago, people would be like, What the hell is Dr. Laura saying? What is that one profile that has everything? This is the profile of a person who is having minor chronic issues, and a lot of it is lifestyle, plus aging and not being able to. When multiple wars are happening in the body, from the gut to a couple of focus areas where the bacteria are fighting, the immune system is a little bit chronically adapting to them and not reinvigorating enough to win those battles. Then it touches the wound, it touches the brain, and you feel the helplessness, which then increases the stress as you agree with the process, even if you go back down, etc. The best thing to do there is reset and rejuvenate. This is where fasting can come in and say, Okay, let us push every cell of the body. That is the beauty of fasting. As you said, fasting is probably the single most impactful thing for longevity because every cell of the body needs color. When you fast, every cell is engaged in that and rejuvenating, for most cells. But this is what you need. It is a multi-system, aging, and some of that system is chronic, and it is a metric condition. You bring fasting to it.
You have a multi-system rejuvenation and a multi-system improvement. You rejuvenate your immunity, your help, and you decrease the visceral fat, which helps a lot with inflammation and decreases the body’s ability to fight blood sugar control blood pressure control, and blood cholesterol control. You are helping the entire body be younger and in the best shape to be able to win those chronic wars. This is what we enjoy about including the brain at this point. Also, the fourth or fifth benefit that I hear from Prolongers is brain fog. The mental clarity. I feel happy, I feel confident, I feel empowered and rejuvenated, and I am getting things back into my head. I always say a Prolon is short enough for people. Do we have a 93% compliance rate because five days is short enough for you to complete it, but it is long enough to change? Then use the changes that we talked about because they happen as of day three.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
I love it. You have a term for it that is Prolongers, It is a movement.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
It is a movement.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
It is a community. It is the entire thing. In the last few minutes that we have here, I want to make sure that we do our due diligence. Who should not do this? Yes, because I do not want people to
run out there and buy this fast and then find out, Oh, this is not for me. Who would that be?
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Four profiles that should not have Prolon contact. First with pregnant women or women lactating because you are growing, a baby is growing, or you are producing milk. You do not want to go fast to the body when doing that. Number two is if you are, we started Prolon for ages 20 to 70, and if you are above 70, and especially if you have, you are already suffering from mental health conditions. You should go talk to your doctor, and then you can do it only if your doctor prescribed it or you are not supervising it. Below age 20. We have never tested it, and the body is still growing vertically, and there are not a lot of chronic conditions related to aging for sure below that. We do not see a reason for it for now; we will probably test for it in the future but for juvenile diabetes. But today, we do not see any reason for you to do that. Number four is that if you have allergies to the ingredients, like in every other food, you should not eat them if you have allergies to it.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
If you have cancer, it is okay. If you have heart disease, it is okay. If you have diabetes, it is okay.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Yes. Again, the doctor should be overseeing if you have a serious health condition. But yes, we do have studies on cancer. We do have a study in cardiovascular as a prescription for them to support the body’s response in conjunction with the therapies that they will be taking. We studied extensively breast cancer and prostate cancer. We have multiple papers on those. You can read them. But, if you have serious health conditions, let the doctor coordinate the fast with your health condition, and we will not position it as a cure. We physicians help patients with regress or remits. We call it a regression, meaning needing less medication or causing remission. This is the disease we studied the most, and we are very confident and strong in its efficacy is diabetes.
We are showing that in six months, if you do the Prolon five days per month over six months, meaning 30 days total for the entire period, you are decreasing your HB1C by 1.4. You are losing 22 pounds of weight. By the way, this is where we versus ozempic and wegovy, and all the chronic by you protect lean body mass. That being said, one of the most exciting findings for me is when you fast, the muscle; because it is in response to trauma, and with stress, the muscle growth hormone is stressed. Your growth hormone is high. The muscle wants to grow. With water fast, it cannot grow because there are no nutrients. But with Prolon, it can. The muscle is rejuvenating. Growth hormones do not have to grow because, again, in human evolution or wealth creation, when there is no food, you want to maintain muscle to walk and find the next fruit or vegetable to find, so we do not. Fasting does not compromise the muscles, especially the nourished fast.
For Prolon, we have two patterns on this and two clinical trials showing the protection of lean body mass. I love that specifically because this is how diabetes is not just the disease of food intake; it is a disease of metabolism, where if you are not there to burn the carbs, then you are going to get it. You make progress with it. Even temporarily, if you reverse it with the JLP ones, there will be impacts and it will go up or you will lose weight; you are losing muscle with pounds, whereas when you do it with a Prolon, a lot of the fasting mechanics, you are not losing muscle. We are showing no muscle loss. We are seeing a decrease in HP1C, and we are showing that two-thirds of the patients decrease the medication within six months. We’re not talking about six years. We are not talking about diabetes as it is a progressive disease. Doctors are used to adding medication every two or four years. Now we are saying two-thirds decrease medication in six months. This is not a chronic six-month period, just five days per month for six months. This is one of the diseases that we are most excited about.

Dr. Antoun, thank you so much. This has been such an enlightening talk, and you have a very special gift for our audience. I know people are listening to the end, these are our die-hards. They want to do this, and I am going to be doing this, and they want to do it too. You have made it possible for our audience to get a very generous 20% off. Nobody ever gets 20% off of stuff anymore. They get 20% off the fasting kit, and there is a clickable link on this page or any page on the summit where you can see Prolon. But just in case you missed that link somehow, and you remember, as Laura said, you can go to a website and use the coupon code. LAURA20 20% off. Laura is L-A-U-R-A. You can do that, and from the link on this page, you can also go to a website. What is the website where our audience can get more information?
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
Yes. Thank you, Laura. Part of our mission is again to help people live healthier lives. We decided to take a 20% discount this time to help your followers. You can go to ProlonLife.com, Prolon is P-R-O-L-O-N, and life is L-I-F-E dot com. Then upon checking out in the cart, there will be a place where you can insert your discount code, and the discount code will be LAURA20. We will give you a 20% discount on any nutritional products on the website. There are the popular five ways, but there are a lot of other products that are for longevity and healthy aging, and the discount would apply to all of them.
Laura Frontiero, FNP-BC
That is amazing. Thank you so much for your generosity. This is just great. It has been a wonderful talk. I enjoyed.
Joseph Antoun, MD, PhD, MPP
I appreciate it very much.
