Here at Hope for Healing, when we partner with you, one of the things that we do is ask you about certain symptoms, and those symptoms point us to the potential for your home or your workplace or you car potentially being something that makes you sick.
What counts as a water-damaged building 0:18
So what is a water damaged building? And people think, well, you live in Houston, Texas. Doesn't every building have water damage? Well, You can live In a home that is safe or an apartment or a townhome or condo. But we may ask you to check your And there are three things that you find in a water damage building that we like to look at. So there's mold. Mold doesn't travel alone and not all mold is bad.

Mold is everywhere, but when you're outside, the wind blows. But inside a house, humidity stays the same, and there's food for mold, like drywall or paper, cellulose. Mould never travels alone, though. It travels with bacteria, there is gram-negative bacteria which is called poopy water bacteria. Those kind of things grow in our gut. Think about it, you have a toilet that overflows, a dishwasher that starts dripping, it had food particles that you know, broke down in there and there's bacteria that likes to eat it.
And then also there is another bacteria called Actinomycetes and it's gram positive. So all these things travel together in a water damaged building and we might ask you to check your home. If you own your own home, we may ask to do what we call test number seven, which is looking at the five species of mold that make people sick.

Not all mold is bad. We get penicillin from it, a wonderful antibiotic. The test number seven also has endotoxins and it also have actinomycetes. At a minimum, we may ask you to do the Herx Mi2, which is the five species of mold that make people sick. That's $117 plus shipping and handling. You pay the company yourself, and we get those results back. Those results may or may not be impacting your health, And we want to give you the tools to move forward. So that's why we ask.
