Most Beauty Treatments Are Trauma for Your Skin

Microneedling, radiofrequency, chemical peels, ablative lasers: most anti-aging treatments work by deliberately injuring your skin so it’s forced to repair itself. For anyone working to take stress off their body, that’s one more stressor added on purpose. In this episode of Redefining Wellness with Dr. Jaban, Dr. Jaban Moore sits down with Lucy Goff, founder of LYMA. Lucy spent two decades in journalism and PR before the birth of her first child in 2012 left her with life-threatening septicemia. A chance meeting with clinical pharmacologist Dr. Paul Clayton, and the nutrient protocol he put her on, helped her recover. That experience led her to found LYMA, starting with the LYMA Supplement and then the LYMA Laser and Laser PRO. Dr. Jaban and Lucy dig into why the “damage to repair” model is the wrong approach and how the LYMA Laser does it differently. It’s an FDA-cleared, 808nm cold laser with a patented diffused lens that removes the heat, so there’s no burn, no damage, and no downtime, and it’s safe for all skin tones. They also get into the science through Dr. Jaban’s mitochondrial lens, including a peer-reviewed study that found the LYMA Laser activated 45 genes in human skin, versus 1 for LED. In this episode: Lucy’s near-death experience and how it led to one of the fastest-growing wellness brands in the world Why most beauty treatments add to your body’s total burden How a cold laser differs from LED, and why up to 95% of LED light bounces off the skin The study showing 45 genes activated in skin, including a 6-fold increase in SIRT1 Why LYMA handed its research to independent researchers with no editorial control Dr. Jaban’s own experience using the LYMA Laser How to use it: how many minutes, how often, and when to expect results What Lucy wants you to know if you feel you aged while getting your health back Black Friday early access: LYMA is giving our community early access to their only sale of the year. Before You Get Knee Replacement, Watch This

Knee health involves more than cartilage. Alignment, muscle strength, biomechanics, and the condition of the meniscus, tendons, and ligaments all influence knee function and long-term joint health. Meniscus injuries can affect long-term joint stability. The meniscus helps distribute force and stabilize the knee. Dr. Park explains why removing meniscus tissue may contribute to increased joint stress and future degeneration. Recovery requires more than pain relief. Dr. Park discusses how exosomes may influence cellular communication and tissue repair. He also emphasizes that feeling better does not necessarily mean the tissue has fully healed, making proper recovery and activity modification important.

Dr Moricz on Brain Fog and Long Covid

Alzheimer's Treatment Centers of America ( www.ATCA.ai ) treats the brain fog that many people developed from both the spike protein component of the vaccine and/or actually getting COVID-19 during the pandemic. Dr. George Moricz, MD, and Chief Medical Officer of the ATCA Port St. Lucie clinic, has treatment protocols that can help patients with their brain fog. Patients diagnosed with post-COVID-19 syndrome often experience cognitive and memory impairments. A new study by researchers from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and UniRio provides insight into the mechanism behind this phenomenon. The study suggests that the Spike protein, responsible for the virus's entry into human cells, could be responsible for memory loss in post-COVID-19 syndrome. The study also identifies TLR4 receptor as a potential therapeutic target for the symptoms. The study involved experiments with mice, where the researchers infused the Spike protein from SARS-CoV-2 into the brains of the animals. The results showed that the infusion induced delayed memory impairment, similar to post-COVID-19 syndrome in humans. The scientists observed an increase in the quantity and activation state of microglia, a type of brain cell involved in the innate immune response, and whose role is essential in neuroinflammatory diseases. Another new research project from the University of Kentucky’s Sanders-Brown Center on Aging shows compelling evidence that the cognitive impairments observed in long COVID patients share striking similarities with those seen in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The study, published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia: The Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association, highlights a potential commonality in brain disorders across these conditions that could pave the way for new avenues in research and treatment. “This project benefited greatly from interdisciplinary collaboration,” Jiang said. “We had input from experts, associated with the Alzheimer’s Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer's Research and Treatment (ISTAART), across six countries, including the U.S., Turkey, Ireland, Italy, Argentina and Chile.” Jiang and the collaborative team focused their work on understanding the “brain fog” that many COVID-19 survivors experience, even months after recovering from the virus. This fog includes memory problems, confusion and difficulty concentrating. According to Jiang, “the slowing and abnormality of intrinsic brain activity in COVID-19 patients resemble those seen in Alzheimer’s and related dementias.” This research sheds light on the connection between the two conditions, suggesting that they may share underlying biological mechanisms. Both long COVID and Alzheimer’s disease involve neuroinflammation, the activation of brain support cells known as astrocytes and abnormal brain activity. These factors can lead to significant cognitive impairments, making it difficult for patients to think clearly or remember information. The idea that COVID-19 could lead to Alzheimer’s-like brain changes is a significant development. “People don’t usually connect COVID-19 with Alzheimer’s disease,” Jiang said, “but our review of emerging evidence suggests otherwise.”
