Raising Capable Kids: Why Warmth and Boundaries Belong Together
Discover how authoritative parenting combines high expectations and accountability with warmth, affection, and support, giving children clear guardrails without removing connection or trust. Understand why routines, predictable boundaries, hands-on play, and age-appropriate responsibilities can help children build confidence, independence, and the real-world skills they will need as they grow. Learn how to rethink screen habits by protecting time for conversation, movement, fine-motor play, sleep, and family engagement, while remembering that parents can set and monitor the boundaries around a child’s device use.
The Science of You: The Power of Nutrigenomics Explained
Understand why doing everything “right” may still fail by learning how that critical 1% genetic difference determines how your body absorbs, utilizes, and responds to nutrients. Discover how actionable genes can be supported through targeted nutrition to improve energy, immunity, metabolism, and long-term health outcomes instead of relying on guesswork. Learn why more supplements isn’t always better and how over-supplementation or generic protocols can actually work against your body if they’re not designed specifically for you.
The Intelligence of Symptoms Part 3: Nausea, Diarrhea & Heartburn
On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared continues his series on the intelligence of symptoms with a look at nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and heartburn. These uncomfortable digestive symptoms may feel like the body is malfunctioning, but in many cases they are part of the body's natural protective response. Jared explains why nausea can act as an early warning, how vomiting and diarrhea help the body remove unwanted substances, and why simply shutting these responses down may not always be the best approach. He also discusses activated charcoal, ginger, probiotics, digestive enzymes, and supportive strategies for digestive distress. Finally, Jared explores acid reflux, the important role of stomach acid, concerns surrounding long-term PPI use, and why supporting healthy digestive function may offer a better long-term strategy.
Why did it take three appointments before anyone mentioned menopause? Why do symptoms get dismissed
Why did it take three appointments before anyone mentioned menopause? Why do symptoms get dismissed as just anxiety? Most primary care providers are not trained to think about it, and OBGYNs are often too busy to fully address it. Menopause is so much more than hot flashes. The data on symptoms shows brain fog, anxiety, and joint pain among the most common, which is exactly why it takes a specialist who is actually looking for the pattern. I am a board certified family physician with a menopause practitioner certification from the Menopause Society, and thousands of hours spent with menopausal women in my training and career. I have also personally dealt with hormonal issues, and watched my own mother go undertreated for years before anyone prescribed her anything, and my grandmother never got treated at all and now lives with severe osteoporosis. That history is part of why I care so much about getting this right. Hormone therapy is not an excuse for doctors to avoid a real conversation. Done appropriately, it is more effective for symptoms and can help protect against heart attacks, osteoporosis, hip fractures, and diabetes. #menopause #perimenopause #hormonetherapy #womenshealth #menopausedoctor
Exosome Training for Physicians: What’s Inside the Masterclass
Clinicians need more than product access to get started. Dr. Park created the Masterclass to answer the questions that make clinicians hesitate. These include whether exosomes work, how to stay within FDA, FTC, and medical board guidelines, what consent looks like, and how to price treatments ethically. Immune status may affect results. Dr. Park explains that exosomes may work partly by shifting T cell behavior from an inflammatory to a regenerative pattern. As a result, high-dose steroids, biologics, mold exposure, or Lyme disease may dampen their effect. Practical tools matter as much as the science. The course includes downloadable consent and intake forms, procedure demonstration videos, and PDF cheat sheets for supplies, steps, and anatomical considerations. A monthly provider webinar offers support with real cases.
When The Thyroid Labs Look Fine And The Patient Is Not
Why a normal TSH and a normal free T4 do not settle the question in a chronically ill patient, and which markers I think tell you more about what is reaching the tissue. How peptides differ from hormones mechanically. Hormones work through the nucleus and change protein synthesis, slow on and slow off. Peptides act largely at the cell surface through secondary messengers, quicker on and quicker off, with effects in more than one direction at once. Why I treat immune modulation and thyroid as one problem rather than two, and the reasoning behind combining them in patients who have been through everything else without getting better.
The Part Of PANS/PANDAS Nobody Has Been Measuring
Why Michelle measured family burden rather than caregiver burden, and what that widened the frame to include: a parent who cannot work, a change in income, a sibling relationship under strain, stigma, and the uncertainty that sits over all of it. Behavior is communication. Michelle describes two children with the same diagnosis and very different presentations, and how a teacher's day to day notes became the thing that got her son recognized. The case for earlier recognition at the front door. Michelle argues that a child showing a sudden change should prompt a look for a medical cause at the first visit, rather than a wait for a specialist appointment in a country that does not have enough specialists.
Your Arteries Are A Muscle, Not A Pipe
The artery wall is biology, not plumbing. Diamond walks through how plaque builds inside the lining rather than collecting in a channel, and why that changes what is worth testing and what is worth treating. Three questions worth asking before any long term prescription: how much longer will this make me live, what is the number needed to treat, and what is the number needed to harm. Diamond explains how relative risk makes a one percent difference sound like fifty. How a clean calcium score can still miss what matters, because calcium scoring does not see the soft, non calcified plaque that Diamond considers the more dangerous kind.
Why Sick People Can’t Fix Their Dopamine
What if the reason you're still stuck isn't your diet, your willpower, or your protocol — it's your dopamine floor? Dr. Sarah Zaldivar holds a PhD in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition from the University of Miami. She's a licensed dietitian, a certified exercise physiologist with the ACSM, and a professor whose doctoral research focused on how exercise cures the root cause of addiction — a chronically low baseline dopamine level. In this episode, she joins Dr. Jaban Moore to answer a question most functional medicine content never asks: why do chronically ill people have the lowest dopamine baselines of anyone, and what does it take to rebuild them? This is not a general conversation about sugar. This is the neuroscience behind why patients who do everything right still crave, still feel flat, and still can't lose weight — and what to do about it. ► What baseline dopamine is and why it matters more than the spike ► Why D2 receptor destruction is driving your cravings — not lack of discipline ► How chronic illness specifically depletes your dopamine floor ► The role of plant toxins in neurotransmitter disruption ► Why diet alone isn't enough — and what HIIT does to receptors that nothing else can ► The dietary framework that accelerates dopamine recovery ► What nutrition science funding is getting wrong — from a licensed dietitian ► Where to start if you're chronically ill, exhausted, and still craving ► Connect with Dr. Sarah Zaldivar: drsarahzaldivar.com | @dr.sarah.zaldivar ► Dr. Jaban Moore: redefiningwellnesscenter.com
Switch From L-Tryptophan to This for Better Results
Most people are taking the wrong form of this supplement and wasting most of it without even realizing it. The difference between L-tryptophan and 5-HTP comes down to how your body actually converts and uses each one to make serotonin and melatonin. You could need thousands of milligrams of one to get the same effect as just hundreds of milligrams of the other. Understanding this one distinction could completely change how you approach your mood and sleep support. Educational content only. #5HTP #SerotoninHealth #SleepSupport
Why Tyrosine Works Differently Than Focus Drugs
Your brain has a focus chemical system that most people never hear about. Stimulant drugs work by making your brain hold onto dopamine and norepinephrine longer, but there is a natural way to approach this from a completely different angle. Tyrosine works on the supply side, helping your body actually produce more of these focus chemicals. What that means for your mental clarity might surprise you. Educational content only.
