The Missing Piece in ADHD, Anxiety, and Chronic Symptoms with Dr. Stephanie Rimka

On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared welcomes Dr. Stephanie Rimka, a clinician and educator with nearly 30 years of experience exploring brain function, nervous system regulation, mitochondrial health, and emotional well-being. They challenge the tendency to let labels like ADHD, anxiety, and depression become part of our identity and discuss why symptoms may offer clues about what the body and brain need. Dr. Rimka shares her perspective on nutrition, physiology, mindset, visualization, and the importance of looking at the whole person rather than simply focusing on a diagnosis. She also offers a powerful exercise for developing greater self-compassion by reconnecting with younger versions of yourself. This conversation is a passionate exploration of hope, resilience, brain health, and learning to work with your body rather than against it.

Why TSH Can Read Normal While Cells Run Low (Part 1 of 3)

The pituitary plays by different rules. Stress, illness, dieting, and aging push most of the body's cells toward making less active T3 and more reverse T3, while the pituitary keeps its own T3 high. That is why I argue a TSH in a chronically ill patient can look reassuring when the tissues are running low. Chronic illness often begins with an immune shift. In the patients I see, stress, toxins, infections, and age tilt the immune system away from TH1 and toward TH2 and TH17. As the thymus shrinks with age, that balance gets harder to maintain, and I use the CD4-to-CD8 ratio as a rough read on where a patient sits. Hashimoto's can hide behind normal labs. I walk through studies suggesting thyroid inflammation can be present when antibodies and TSH look unremarkable, and that symptoms track with immune activity. My view is that these patients need the immune picture treated alongside the thyroid.

Why It Was Never Just Strep: Dr. Richard Horowitz On Neuroinflammation

Dr. Horowitz groups the drivers of chronic inflammation into six sources, which are infections, environmental toxins, the microbiome, intestinal permeability, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and sleep, and then ten downstream effects those six feed. Pulling one nail out and sending the patient home is where he thinks most of medicine still stops. When a family tells me testing is out of reach, I point them at his questionnaire. It costs nothing, and he says that in validation across three medical practices it held up against the standard two-tiered Lyme test. Brain inflammation now shows up in blood. Markers that once needed a spinal tap are blood tests now, and one of Dr. Horowitz's Lyme patients saw hers return to normal on his Dapsone protocol. One case, and he wants a trial.

How Cold Should a Cold Plunge Be for Women?

Temperature is the setting that matters most for women. Josh keeps the water between 55–60°F, which he says raises cortisol a little without the hard stress of very cold water. He also pays attention to the time of the month and to how recovered someone feels that week. On a training day, the order matters. Josh plunges first, warms up and trains, then finishes in the sauna. On days without a workout, he says you can start with either one, as long as you finish with cold. Sauna heat has a ceiling too. Josh keeps infrared saunas in the 140s and a traditional hot sauna between 180–200°F, and he warns against going past 200°F. Start slowly, and check with your practitioner first if you have a health condition.

Dr. Peter McCullough on Spike Protein, Recovery and the Vaccine Schedule

Antibody levels guide his treatment decisions. Dr. McCullough uses the COVID-19 spike antibody test as a stand-in for spike protein exposure. In his practice, levels below about 1,000 rarely call for treatment, while higher levels, especially above 5,000, lead him to recommend a clearance protocol. His detox base is two oral enzymes plus curcumin. The protocol he has published pairs nattokinase and bromelain with curcumin, taken on an empty stomach. Because nattokinase and bromelain affect clotting, he tells patients to tell their doctors, especially before any surgery. He wants vaccines matched to clinical needs. Dr. McCullough argues that vaccines should follow individual risk, such as hepatitis B for babies born to infected mothers or pneumococcal vaccines for people without a spleen, and that parents' decisions about their children should be respected.

Is It ADHD or Something Else?

Is it really ADHD, or is something else going on? If you've been told your child's focus problems are ADHD, or that your own anxiety, brain fog and poor sleep are "just stress," this conversation offers another way to look at it. In this episode, Dr. Jaban Moore talks with Dr. Stephanie Rimka, DC, BCN, a chiropractor board certified in neurofeedback who practices in Atlanta. She explains brain waves in plain English, shares what she looks for before assuming a diagnosis, and describes why she believes the brain needs the right foundation before neurofeedback can work. Dr. Jaban also shares how gentle brain-calming tools have fit into his work with highly sensitive, complex chronic illness. In this episode, you'll learn: → What neurofeedback is and how brain waves relate to focus, anxiety and sleep → Why Dr. Rimka says ADHD can look like other things, from sleep loss to nutrient and environmental factors → What she has observed on live brain scans of children watching screens → Why she starts with sleep, food and nutrition, and sometimes pauses neurofeedback while the body catches up → Why Dr. Jaban calls neurofeedback "physical therapy for the brain" → How in-person and remote neurofeedback can differ, and how to find a qualified provider → How the brain can build a new "road" when it's stuck in an old pattern
