Homeostasis is the body's ability to maintain internal stability and balance despite external changes or stressors. It is a fundamental process that ensures optimal functioning of bodily systems. Various physiological parameters, such as body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, pH levels, and hormone levels, are tightly regulated within a narrow range to support the body's overall health. For example, when body temperature rises due to external heat exposure, sweating helps cool the body down and bring the temperature back to the normal range. Similarly, hormonal mechanisms regulate blood sugar levels, ensuring that they remain stable. Disruptions to homeostasis can lead to health issues, so the body continually adjusts its internal processes to maintain a state of equilibrium.
