Protein

Proteins are fundamental biomolecules composed of amino acids, essential for the proper functioning and structure of cells, tissues, and organs in the human body. They perform a vast array of functions, including catalyzing biochemical reactions as enzymes, transporting molecules, providing structural support, and aiding in immune responses. The body synthesizes proteins through the process of protein synthesis, involving DNA transcription to mRNA and translation of mRNA into amino acids that form the protein chain. Proteins derived from the diet serve as an essential source of amino acids for the body. Adequate protein intake is vital for growth, tissue repair, hormone production, and overall health. Common sources of dietary protein include meat, fish, eggs, legumes, nuts, and dairy products.
