My dermatologist says topical steroids are fine — why go through all this?

  • There are two questions inside the one you are asking. “How do I get this flare down right now” and “why does this keep coming back” are not the same conversation, and a steroid was only ever designed to answer the first. Most families have never been offered the second one, which is why the answer keeps feeling incomplete.
  • You are already doing the hard version. The hard way is not following a plan someone built around your child and your actual week. It is waking up and inventing the day from scratch, then doing it again tomorrow and for months after that, with nobody ever telling you whether any of it is working.
  • Half the work is deciding what to stop doing. A guide who only adds to your list is not helping you. Knowing what you can set down, this week or for good, frees up more than one more protocol ever will, and you do not have to become the eczema expert yourself.
