Chronic Stress

Chronic stress refers to long-term exposure to psychological, emotional, or physical stressors that are perceived as overwhelming or beyond one's ability to cope. It can result from various factors such as work-related pressures, financial difficulties, relationship problems, or traumatic experiences. When the body experiences stress, it activates the "fight or flight" response, releasing stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. While acute stress can be adaptive and help individuals respond to challenges, chronic stress can have detrimental effects on physical and mental health. Prolonged exposure to stress hormones can lead to various health issues, including cardiovascular problems, weakened immune function, hormonal imbalances, mental health disorders like anxiety and depression, and even accelerated aging. Managing chronic stress involves identifying stressors, developing healthy coping mechanisms, and seeking support from healthcare professionals if necessary.
