3 Years of Chemo, Zero Antibiotics: One Mom’s Fight to Save Her Son
7 hours ago
- Advocacy can coexist with conventional treatment
Season didn’t reject conventional oncology — she layered functional-medicine support (supplements, detox therapies, targeted nutrition) alongside chemotherapy, while learning how to advocate within the system, including opting her son out of the standard Children’s Oncology Group trial to gain more flexibility with his care team. - Nutrition and community carried the family through
Rather than relying on hospital food, Season’s family and friends organized a daily rotation of home-cooked, nutrient-dense meals delivered to the hospital — a practice she now teaches other families through a free “Hospital Essentials” guide. - A cancer diagnosis became a calling
Watching her son go through treatment — and watching other children suffering in nearby hospital rooms — Season was moved to found Thrive Through Cancer and Thrive Beyond Cancer, along with the nonprofit Kick Cancer Movement, to make integrative cancer support accessible to other families.
