Sex Is Medicine: Reclaim Your Desire, Pleasure & Life Energy | HOTNESS Ep. 17
Sex is about so much more than sex.
In this episode of **Hotness**, Dr. Liz Lyster sits down with Dr. Willow Brown, Chinese medicine doctor, Taoist sexologist, tantra educator, and functional medicine practitioner, for a conversation about pleasure, sexuality, shame, the pelvic floor, and the life force energy that can come back online in midlife.
Dr. Willow introduces Dr. Liz to Taoist sexology and the idea that our bodies are not separate from nature. We move through the same rhythms of contraction and expansion, yin and yang, that we see everywhere in the natural world. And for women who are no longer cycling, she offers a beautiful reframe: you’re no longer on a **moon-womb cycle — you’re on a moon-in-the-sky cycle.**
The conversation gets even deeper.
What happens when shame about sexuality has been carried in the body for years, or even passed down through generations?
Dr. Willow talks about how shame can show up as pain, insecurity, disconnection, painful sex, lack of desire, or simply not feeling safe in your own body. She also shares how her pelvic floor work helps women reconnect with sensation and release what their bodies may have been holding.
They also challenge the narrow cultural definition of what “good sex” looks like and explore sexuality as “creative life force energy”, something that can fuel pleasure, vitality, connection, creativity, and transformation.
And yes, they talk about menopause.
Because when the monthly cycle ends, it doesn’t mean your vitality, sexuality, or desire have to end with it. In fact, menopause can become an opportunity to turn some of that energy back toward yourself.
If you’ve ever felt disconnected from your body, your desire, or your sense of aliveness, this conversation is an invitation to look at sexuality differently.
Your hotness doesn’t disappear in midlife.
It can deepen.
It can expand.
It can come back online.
