Jen Goddard grew up inside a cult. The hardest lesson she carried out of it was how to recognize a system that’s shaping your life while it stays completely invisible to you.

Years later — exhausted, overmedicated, and convinced her own body had turned against her — she saw the same pattern in her health: a body in real trouble, and a system busy managing symptoms while the actual causes went unexamined. Learning to see that system, and work with the body instead of around it, changed the trajectory of her life.

Today Jen is a Board Certified Doctor of Natural Health, Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, Certified Thermographer, and founder of Thriving Proof in Bangor, Maine, where she practices alongside Dr. Cassandra Generlette, MD — a board-certified physician who provides primary care and is trained in functional medicine. Together they help high-achieving women and men get to the root of fatigue, stubborn weight, hormone imbalance, and inflammation.

Jen’s work centers on the body’s terrain — drainage before detox, methylation support, lowering toxic burden, balancing hormones — and she reaches for a wide toolbox to find what standard labs miss: comprehensive hormone and stool testing, toxin-burden panels, thermography, bioresonance, and muscle testing.

She speaks on two themes a room doesn’t forget: What Growing Up in a Cult Taught Me: The System You Can’t See, on spotting the invisible systems that keep you stuck — in your health and well beyond it; and Beyond the Band-Aid: Why Your Body Deserves Better, on reclaiming the body’s ability to heal.

A former USOA Mrs. Maine 2025 titleholder, Jen brings candor, warmth, and a story that earns a room’s attention before she’s said a word about health.

Ideas for podcast episodes :

  • Hormone Dysfunction Is A Symptom, Not A Cause
  • Optimizing Metabolic Function
  • Functional Genomics For Every Aspect of Health
  • Functional Labs

Questions I'm always ready to answer :

  • Why doesn't balancing hormones actually fix the problem?
  • What has to be corrected underneath before hormone support can hold?
  • What does it actually take to repair metabolic function at the root?
  • What can your DNA and functional lab work reveal about your body that a standard physical and "normal" bloodwork miss completely?
